If they are different I wonder how involved modifying the 67 frame would be? Has anyone done what I was thinking. Taking the 4X4 running gear from the 72 and putting it in the 67?

YES! There are a few members here that have converted their crew cabs from 2WD to 4WD. I'd recommend you look through the Project Updates section and you'll find them. Can it be done? You Bet!
