Finally found a '67 swb "COMPLETE". It was last inspected in 1999, so i know its set up for awhile. It's been shot about four times by fairly large calibre gun (has bullet holes slightly smaller then a dime in cab just to left of back glass), front glass has bullet holes, rear glass is busted, has some rust on underbody. I'm not concerned with the engine or tranny, mine are fine. My 67 has bad bearings in the steering column, sever rust on the inner fenders, sever rust both sides of the floor and creeping up towards the vent on drivers side, bad master cylinder, bad brake lines both steel and rubber (going to assume wheel cylinders are just as bad), bad door latch/window regulator on driver side, kinked speedo cable (makes speedo slower then actual speed), can't carry sand in back of the truck cause there'd be none there when you got to where you were going with it, and I'm sure there are other issues with my truck that I can't think of right now. My question, could I buy this donor truck for $500 for the body parts and be able to make my money back by parting out the donor?

The short answer is YES.

You can usually make more money parting out a vehicle than selling it whole. The biggest problem is storage, city regulations about "junk" cars on your property and time...the time it takes to find buyers for all the parts.

If you live out in the country (like me) and can store the truck without "officials" bothering you and if you have the patients to sell the parts over a long period of time, than get the truck.

I recently bought a 76 highboy for parts I needed the front axle and transfer case I spent $1150.00 on truck and shipping and recovered $1000.00 in parts sold and scrap metal.
I was nervous about spending that much money that we really did not have but it all worked out and I came out way ahead I listed everything on the truck,and segregated what was left to get top dollar from the scrap yard.

Went with my gut feeling, it was screaming NO, so I fnally listened. I wouldve gotten what I needed but then think I would have been stuck with the rest of the truck and really wouldnt want to see it go to scrap yard.
