1967 F100 Father and Son Project - Starting Final Assembly
This project has been ongoing from about the spring of 2003. I inherited this pickup from my grandfather and since then my Dad and I have been (slowly) working on the restoration. Since we have been working on it a little more lately I decided to post some of the progress. Here it is when it all started.

We started the tear down process. The truck sat outside in the Michigan winters for a couple of years so there was a significant amount of rust.

Down to the frame.
We had to repair some of the mount locations on the frame.
The frame was then power washed and prepped for paint.

We decided to use POR-15 on the frame and all suspension components. Here is the frame after the preparation process.
After paint, we brushed it on instead of spraying.
Back to rolling chassis after all the paint was completed and all bushing and suspension components replaced where necessary.
352 engine was rebuilt and then dropped on the frame.

No we just got all the grease off with a powerwasher. The POR-15 actually adheres better to the rust then a smooth metal surface, at least that is what they say.

Re: 1967 F100 Father and Son Project (in progress)
We ended up getting a replacement cab because the original was in pretty bad shape. We added some brackets to mount bucket seats from a newer Dodge Dakota truck.
Added a mount for a new stereo, just have to cut out the hole for it.
Had to repair the back left corner
New grille to replace the stock painted grille.
Inner fenders before...
and after.
Inner fenders mounted and radiator support all painted with POR-15. Carb, air cleaner, starter and headers all installed.
Doors and fenders mounted.
New steering wheel.

This is pretty much where we are currently. I am working on getting the pedal assemblies ready so we can mount them along with the steering column. We then have to get the bed sandblasted and then will work on some metal repair. We plan on painting the underside with POR-15 and then applying a brush on bed liner. We also still have to install the gas tank under the bed. After that everything will go off for paint.

Re: 1967 F100 Father and Son Project (in progress)
Made a little progress this weekend. I prepped and painted some smaller parts. Here are the before pictures:
When I was taking the pedal assembly apart I noticed that the two metal bushings were very worn out. After doing a little searching on here I found out about Mustang Steve and his upgrade kit. I went ahead and painted the assembly but will probably send it out soon to get the upgrade done.
I ended up painting the hood hinges, hood latch, hood supports, pedal assembly and the parking brake all with POR-15.

'Evening JrReed1634,
Glad you found the Mustang Steve upgrade! I have that in my truck and I love it. The pedals have a whole new kind of precision with the bearings in place, and it makes the truck a lot more fun to drive (if you're the kind of guy to take notice of a subtlety like that).

Robroy, Glad to hear you are happy with the upgrade. I figure it is worth the money to get the upgrade done now and I am not sure how else I would fix it. It looks like he does very good work and the price is right.
