Yeah, when you live in the middle of nowhere like I do, a gen is almost a must. The power goes out pretty often. Not for too awful long though. I think the longest was around 12 hours.

We got about 6" from the October storm. Power went out on Saturday 10/29, back on Wednesday night. Had the woodstove and a single cord from the neighbor's genny.

14 years ago, on Oct. 25-26, we got 13" of heavy wet snow and ice. The leaves were still on most of the trees.

Flyboy, That's pretty much what it looked like in the NorthEast two weeks ago. Big mess. People were without power for more than a week. I think something like 2/3 of Ct. was without power at one time.
