Craigslist Rant

Post by Swegner99 »

Three things that really drive me nuts about craigslist:

1) How come no one can figure out how to use a dang comma! It makes people sound so ignorant, plus its annoying when you have to stop and back track to re-read a sentence so it will make sense.

2) What makes people really think their 1982 "insert 4 cylinder piece of junk here" is worth $5000, I can understand that times are tough and everybody needs all the extra money they can get but lets be realistic about pricing.

3) Who in their right mind thinks that they will be able to sell anything without posting a picture? "Just come and look at it, let it speak for itself"..... No thanks, im not gonna drive halfway across town to come look at the pile of junk that you are misrepresenting on Craigslist, post a picture or dont waste your time.

Sorry guys, just frustrating....

Its bad on both ends of craigslist, selling isnt any better.

1) Someone wants to buy what you've got listed and wants to come out to buy it. Give them a meeting time of before 9am and youll see them in the afternoon with 10 calls between telling you why thier running late. Stop for gas, Had to go by the bank, Stop for food, Someone 20 mile away in the other direction wants to ride, ect, ect.

2) List in the ad no texting. First contact is going to be someone texting " Is it still for sale "

3) Show up in the biggest POS on the road, Or as i like to call them a ROACH COACH. Talk to you for 2 hours trying to get you down on the price, And you finally give in to get rid of them and they don't have enuff money.

Oh, I could right a book on this. One of my last ones was this cat who wanted to buy a welder I had for sale. Now, I live out in the sticks a bit and sometimes, GPS won't bring you to my place. So when I am giving directions, I tell them to pay very close attention and that their GPS may not work. Of course, no one really listens.

Guy says he will be up to my place around 6pm. Around 7 I get the call to tell me that some other BS he was doing was important enough to make me spend my evening listening for someone pulling up and he would be out at around 8. Okay, fine. Of course, 8 comes and goes. 9, 10, I go to bed. At 12:20 AM, I wake up to someone pounding on my door(nope, I'm not kidding). He is ringing the doorbell and pounding away. My gal says, "are you going to answer it?" I said no, screw him....He keeps it up for like five effin minutes. I throw the blanket off of me in an absolute RAGE! Someone is about to get their butt kicked by a dude in his undershorts.

My girls says "what are you going to do?" as she is following me down the hallway. I said, "well....I am going to open the door and then punch him as hard as I can right in the head...that's my plan right now, like it?"

She did not like it and knows when I am joking around and when I am not. So she runs to the door before me. Gets the cash, gives him the welder and off he went. I tried to get her to tell me why he thought it was okay to beat on my door at midnight, but she just wanted me to drop it, so I never did find out.

Woods, I always enjoy your quality stories!

The only explanation I can think of for this guy wanting to buy your welder at midnight is that he was an A Team member.

Your comma should be a semicolon.

And it is "it's" or "it is" not "its".

I sold a nice pop up camper some years ago to a guy who came from AZ (with his wife and kid). As he starts counting out the money to pay me, he "discovers" that had a $1,000 less than what we agreed. He even made a pathetic attempt to act like the money was missing ... telling his wife to around look for it. So he tells me that he will hook the camper to his truck, go to the ATM and bring the difference back to me. All the while trying to convince me that he lost a grand.

I told him that since he didn't bring all the money, that I was free to walk from the deal. Of course, he ran across the street and got the money. I should have told him when he got back that the price when up another $1,000.

What really still annoys me to this day is that when he got out of his truck (an even while hooking up the camper), he wasn't wearing any shoes. And those feet were absolutely disgusting (be prepared before you click the link). Here's a picture that I took before he left.

You'd think that if you're interested in selling a vehicle that you'd put in the basics.

Price

Miles

Engine type/size

Carburetor size

Trans type

Options: AC, PS,PB, PDL, PW, CC, etc.

that you HAVE a title.

It would be nice to know if:

Your cat died under the front seat.

Your kids used the rear seat for toilet paper after going Number Two.

Your kids used the front seat pockets for vomit receptacles, and you forgot to clean them.

Your teenagers decided to carve their names in the headliner, door panels, upholstery, and scratch the glass.

You smoke so much that the windows look tinted.

You've changed the oil, ever.

You think that the exposed steel belts on all four tires really improve handling.
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

or, money.

Since Craigslist does have an e-mail reply feature I'd prolly contact the guy. Idjits don't have the brains to come up with an ad that good. If he's lost his mind on the price the worst thing that can go wrong is you write a couple of e-mails for nothing.
