Yeah, when you live in the middle of nowhere like I do, a gen is almost a must. The power goes out pretty often. Not for too awful long though. I think the longest was around 12 hours.

My sister is up from you in the Catskil's....didn't get there power back until Wed. after the big storm71 LONG BED wrote:We had 10-12" of wet heavy snow on October 29-30 that knocked out power at my place for 26hrs. I sure was thankful for my generator. Some didn't get their service back for 7 days!!! In October...in New Jersey??I hope this isn't a sign of what's in store for the winter.
It was 60* yesterday and supposed to be 66* today. Mother nature is loosing her mind.
I've had enough and I'm not alone

Re: 1st snow of the year
We got about 6" from the October storm. Power went out on Saturday 10/29, back on Wednesday night. Had the woodstove and a single cord from the neighbor's genny.

14 years ago, on Oct. 25-26, we got 13" of heavy wet snow and ice. The leaves were still on most of the trees.
All over town it looked like this:

I know what you're going through up there!

Flyboy, That's pretty much what it looked like in the NorthEast two weeks ago. Big mess. People were without power for more than a week. I think something like 2/3 of Ct. was without power at one time.
