Re: Authentic Mercury or Re-badged Ford?
Last register in 2005 so it has been sitting outside for the past 6+ years. Needs a good cleaning!!!
A project for spring hopefully.
Looks like the reflectors on the back were added later as well as the sliding read window. Niether came on the 67's.
Thinking of adding Smoothies wheels and BF Goodrich tires come spring. What do you guys think of Smoothies (Babymoons)?

Here is a photo of the hood and front grill. This is where I had the truck picked up from after sitting for the 6+ years.

Baby moons would look good with that color. It sure has had a lot of work done nicely and now that I can see it, it's got me wondering...
That royal maroon wasn't original to '67. It shows on the '69 option list but i believe it actually came on line in mid '68, based on reports from other owners here and my own experience. I would check the frame vin number to see if it matches the door and firewall tags; and check the color code showing on the tag just for kicks. That extra chrome on the hood front isn't original so I'd also check the inside of hood sides to see if any holes have been brazed in, indicating a rebadged Ford hood. Without having a look at it in person, I'd say chances are 50/50 it could be a rebadge, based on the large amount of work it's had

Re: Authentic Mercury or Re-badged Ford?
I have all the photo's of the Frame Off Restoration from 1998. I also looked at the hood, it does not have any holes filled in. It also is a 67 hood with no hole in the centre. I also looked at the side fronts of the hood and see nothing where the ford logos would have been. I will have to look at the resoration photos again when all the fenders, box, gate, etc. where all removed from the truck for prep and paint. I also noticed that there is rear reflectors added below the tail lights that were not on the 67's.
I will try and scan some prior photo's of the truck before paint sometime in the future. I do know that prior to paint it was a redish color. The cab interior has no door locks, the ash tray has one screw, pull out knobs etc so pretty sure it is a 67 cab etc.

Re: Authentic Mercury or Re-badged Ford?
That's the problem with a full repaint in a different color; good for obscuring the identity. Was probably rangoon red but the maroon looks better imho. Just curious as I see they painted right over the door switches and hood rubbers, did they paint over the big plug on the firewall too? Drives me nuts to see that
Looks like they didn't replace the rear hood supports on the cowl sides; I've got a couple you can have and the 100 inserts for the cowl emblems are the same as the 63/64 Ford nameplates so you can order them from npd or carpenter. Pretty good chance it's a merc but the resto pics will probably give more clues. One other question: do the numbers and the dso code on the firewall tag match the door tag?

Re: Authentic Mercury or Re-badged Ford?
Hood supports on rear, are those the rubber pads by the rear corners close to the firewall? If so they are there just painted over so hard to see.
