Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
Man that looks great! I love a clean stock bump, but the upgrades you get from a body swap are the ultimate. I saw you made a post about mating the old column to the newer box. What I did was cut of the rag joint, then i cut the last 2" of off the newer column and welded it to the older column. I atached the newer knuckle to the new piece on the column. The shaft coming out of the newer box had a slip joint already. So I just cut it down to size and it has been working great. I will try to post a pic.

Thank's for your input Tyler, your very right bout the way the others look. I like them, but not for this truck. I will be ordering the the upper right one in the next day or so....
That's good to hear cause it sounds similiar to what I have been thinking of. I'm just not at that point yet, I still have to pull the one out of the 2002 and see how it matches up. It also has a slip joint and a few knuckles. So it should work out close to what you did..... .....

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
Back to work on the front end today. The flat part that's tucked under the front bumper was damage on both ends, so I pounded them back into shape. I also got the frame parts close to lined up but my front bumper is not at all straight so it's making it near to impossible to line up. So it looks like I will need to order a new bumper before I will be able to finish this part of the build.
Very strange on this 2002 frame, not sure why but the drivers side frame rail is larger than the passenger side. as you can see in the next pic's I had to notch, tuck, and overlap the driver side but the passenger side is overlapped by the old frame.

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
Well I got a little more done today, I figured now was as good a time as any to fix the nice dent the truck had when I bought it.
Also going to use panels from a 67 to fix it so the bed will have a more smooth look to it. I picked these corner post up from a junk yard for $10 ea.
Cut out my patch panel and then cut out the damaged panel on the truck.
Clamped in the new patch and then started tacking it in.
So after a ton of spot welds it is done.
Now I get to start the drivers side

Its fixed, you do awesome body work. I wish I had that gift, luckily im blessed with good grinding skills.....
I like the looks of the earlier beds too, without the reflectors.
