Last Minute Car Shows Never Hurt

Post by TexasTruck72 »

Yesterday(Sunday Nov 13), a friend reminded me that the last local car show was going to be going on that afternoon from 1-4:30pm. I didn't think much of it and planned on not going because I had to be somewhere at 4pm. Well, I got motovated and did end up taking my 72 F-100 to the show. Turned out to be one of the best shows here in town ever. There's usually one every month at this old drive-in, but this was the last one of the year so that drew even more people. Why? Because every year at the last show, the car club that puts on the show gives away all the entry money back to the car owners through door prizes and drawings! I had entered several times this year, paying $5 each time, so I had only maybe $15-20 invested in it. Well, I got my money back! At the end of the show a guy called the number on my entry ticket and gave me a $20 bill. Kinda nice reward since I almost did not come to this show until the last minute. I waited around until all the prizes were given away. I am happy with $20, but was excited to know that I could've won as much as $375, it all just depended on when the drew my number and what was in the prize envelope at the time. :D

Also, earlier that morning, I was approcahed by a guy in parking lot. He said he liked my truck and commented on how he grew up the town my bump came from(Lampasas, TX), which is displayed in large, etched letters on my dealership rear bumper. I asked him if he remembered thhe dealership and he said it was bought out a long time ago. Cool thing to meet people who fins something about your truck personal.

Anyway, just thought I'd share a neat experience and a few pictures from the show. Saw 2 other bumps there, one real clean 72 SWB(not mine).

Nice, thanks for posting.
Jeff, that is my late wife's full 1st name. She did not like it, but I always have. I would like to know what that set-up is also.

Jeff, that was in a 56 Crown Victoria. It was heavily customized. I personally did not like the engine cover, but I will have to say that must have taken a lot of work to get that engine compartment/cover so clean and smooth. I tried to see what engine was under the cover, but couldn't see any hints to what it was.

91 Bear, my bump orginally came from Gene Jones Ford in Lampasas, Texas. It still has the dealership decal on the tailgate and the heavy-duty Ruff-neck bumper with engraved dealership name & city.
