Truck shipping

Post by Ryan_1 »

Hi,
So i am located in Anchorage Alaska and Have a 1970 Ford F-250 with a 8" lift kit and is usually outfitted with 39's but have 31's for it. I am wondering if anyone has shipped a truck before. I am looking for the most affordable but yet reliable company to possibly ship my truck back to Seattle, where i am originally from.

Thanks.

Ryan,

Check with the local Auto Auctions, sometimes a transport might have an extra spot
also heavy equipment dealers might have a dead run available

I think MrMajestyk is probably onto a great idea, if it doesn't work out tho, try the link. I have never actually used this, but have heard good things about it from a friend who ships horses here and there.

I sent an F350 to Fairbanks from Vacouver, WA a number of years back. Let me look to see if I still have the info on it. Been a long time.

I did a little research with the Alaska marine highway last night, I can cruise down on the ferry to bellingham with the truck and a room for $1500 and it takes a week.

I also checked with Z-best auto transports and got a quote to ship the truck down for $1800.

Hopefully i may be able to find a dead run cause then i would have a better chance of being able to pack up all my stuff on it, aka my 39's, all my gear, spare truck parts, etc.

I had my truck shipped from Northern California to St. Louis, MO. The first place I tried was uship. The fella I found had tons of great feedback and looked trustworthy. After giving him a $500 deposit, he totally flaked and kept my money. There was immediatly about 15 poor reviews posted along with mine with some people being took for a couple grand. Uship was totally useless, saying that it was basically my word against his. They wouldn't even give me contact info for the others that were screwed so that we all might be able to come together with a lawsuit.

Then I tried an outfit out of Florida that took a $200 deposit from me and also flaked, never returning my money. They just stopped answering my calls, just like the first.

So, what have I learned? Do not, under any circumstance, give a deposit for shipping. You pay upon delivery or look elsewhere. I found a company called kiwis karriers that shipped my truck without a dime from my pocket until it was at my doorstep. It was $1400 for something like 2200 miles. Here is their link: http://kiwiskarriers.com/

Hello Ryan_1,
Ive' had a car shipped from Arizona, first shipoper was a nightmare, had all kinds of issues and cost me money and didn't even ship! Then I tried another and had GREAT results with the car, also shipping a 62 F-100 from Idaho and my 69 from Florida, all to SE Pennsylvania. Talk to Todd, his contact info is below. Todd is a real class act and he remembers you are the customer. I highly recomend him. Price was in the middle of others as I remember.

I have used DAS and was very happy with the service. I used uship and all the quotes were at least 50% more than DAS. You can get an instant quote on there site.

I had my truck shipped from Washington to South Carolina. I think I had three different dispatch companies looking for someone on that route for a couple months before my truck got picked up. It cost $1300 too ship it. Something like 250-300 for the dispatch company when the truck was picked up and the rest to the truck driver on delivery. It didn't come on one of those car haulers, but on a flat bed you'd see used for big equipemnt. The company I used was Cascade Vehicle Shipping Inc. They are local to where the truck was picked up.
