Found something I'd almost get rid of the stepside for....

Post by 71fordkid »

So I work in a semi industrial area of N.E. portland. Ive been noticing this ong bed swiss aqua 1971 f100 hi boy. it looks to be in pretty good shape, minimal dents, straight 1971 grill, no major bed rust i can see from the street. recently, a cardboard sign went up in the front window. its says - from what i can see - either 1000 obo or 1800 obo.

I'd almost be willing to get rid of my 72 stepside for it. my dad had one just like it, but 2wd. Its a beautiful truck. Ive always wanted one and it makes me think of riding in my dads '71.

I figure after i swap the rebuilt 302 into the stepside with the aod 4 speed, put the old rear end without the spool in, and un-lower it, id be able to get about 1500-2000 out of it.

I really like my stepside. i dont really want to get rid of it, but this hi boy is burning into me like a bad case of heartburn. i dunno what to do!

It's always nice to have an extra truck around for those rare occasions when your regular ride won't start. :)

Well im starting to pull the old motor out of the step today, and hopefully notch the cross member and rear frame and have it all done by the end of january (weather permitting, ill be working outside under a quick shade since i can't fit the truck in the garage).
