We've all been there! I know there are a bunch of things I want to get done to my truck, but I have realized I will probably only get to one or maybe two projects per year. I MIGHT be done by the time I retire.
Maybe.

Bad day, Josh? But I do know where you're coming from. Gettin' too cold to paint parts and that was about all I could do now til after the holidays and I can start building the "bump fund" back up. I'd sandblast something, rustproof it, paint it, wrap it in a trash bag and add it to the pile. Then go to the other pile and grab a few more parts. Now the weather's turned cold and I can't even do that. That's when I decided to build a paint booth in the basement. As least I feel productive.

Josh, one thing you can always do is just dream how your truck will look when it's done. The thinking and dreaming stuff is sometimes just as rewarding as getting a few things done.

Writing lists and organizing them in a binder is something else I do to keep my focus on the various jobs I need to do to finish my truck. I put off doing the lists off until winter as it's something I can do when it's cold outside and it's still working on my truck.

I like to break my projects down into small bites then I'm NOT overwhelmed and feel a sense of accomplishment that I've done something on my Bump. Hell, just take off the distributor hold down clamp, clean it and paint it...one more little thing you've done and it looks great!

My mono is that to fix a mess you got to make a mess. Before i started my 69 project i told myself that i could not let it be my addiction, can't let it hurt me financially, can't let it get in the way of everyday chores. I gave myself 3 years to get this 69 completed. Patience is a virtue they say. I also have parts scattered every where, but i know with time and patience at the end of project i will have one very fine truck when it is reassembled. It will be worth the wait. Hang in there Josh and turn those negatives into positives.

I think that all of us have had those moments working on our trucks! One thing I noticed is that a lot of us comment about breaking it down into smaller projects so that you don't get overwhelmed. That is the only way that I can do it! if you are just working at small projects it gives you little moments of satisfaction here and there. If I look at the whole picture it seems unfathomable! That is the reason we are the owners of these bumps. The previous owners didn't have the will power that we have! I looked at your album, your Calypso truck sure looks nice! is this the one that is driving you nuts? Hang in there.

Josh,
Like everyone said above, there will be bad days!
Took me almost 7 years to get my truck even remotely dependable, and I still question that now? By far I still have a long ways to go.
Look at it in my perspective if you can...my truck should never leave my family, (God willing-my Son will inherit my truck). It's a legacy of sorts...

When I read the Cali CL ads I wonder why I bother with MD junk...

My dad has a book on classic imports and one of the things the author stresses over and over again is to buy the very best you can afford because a nice original is easier to keep up than one that needs restored. Seems most resto parts are 2/3 the quality of the OEM too...

Hang in there. I get the same way now and then when it comes to the 68. Sell/Trade/Keep :? :? :? :? At this time I am in the keep for now mod. There is a 54 that I have been lusting after, but the guy thinks it is made out of gold.
As far as projects go. You never get to the end. Finish 1 there sits another. I am 62 and that is 1 of many things that keeps me going and happy

Josh a truck is one thing! Personal happiness is another! You have made a few references to "quiting" I understand being overwhelmed by a project, I have been there. The important thing is that you are not to overwhelmed by life. The nice thing about a project is you can take a break and it will always be waiting for you. If you need to step back from it for a while, do it.
I am more concerned about your comments about yourself than an old truck.

I've had tons of days like this, and not only with my truck! But when you keep slugging at it, someday it pays off, I promise!
