Been there, done that...ship out, get your ass shot at/off by ragheads or other scum, come home, get spit on, go to work at McD's or Stuffmart, collect minimum wage, go nowhere fast, start drinkin, live in a box under a bridge. Go Obama Go!!! right outta the country.

Been all over, done that. stayed in for a heck of a long time. Glad I did. The retirement and medical are great. Sucked at times, but more good than bad.

Proud to have served, and thank you all that have, and are now serving.

I am part of that 1%...but when I got back home, the skill I had of shooting folks from a very long distance seemed to be frowned upon as a career choice. So I had to learn something else.

Not dissin' those who serve or have served...but those who are overseas now definitely will deserve better than what they come home to...Socialista prez, discounted degrees, unemployment checks and some folks who don't know or appreciate that somebody went over there to serve. Lots of the homeless that I deliver free, hot meals to as a volunteer encounter this after they muster out, just think they deserve better. I can still field strip an M14 and M60 blindfolded, and lots of other things, too, but no jobs anywhere right now in my neck of the woods...hope it picks up before most of our troops come home.

I think some of you are missing the point of this post. It is aimed at the whiners with this Occupy Wall Street crap. Most have never had a job - nor tried to find one - not even mowing lawns as a kid. Now they want free everything, are bitching at the wrong people (should be protesting in front of Congress) and likely wouldn't take a job if it were offered. They are backed by unions and liberals who's goal is to tear this country down.
Thanks to all who serve. Times will be getting better - hopefully right after this next election.

Here's where the thread starts becoming political! I am 3rd generation DD-214 honorably discharged veteran / who is essence supports the wall street movement that stopped my bank from raping me of another charge they can do without! Let's go back to another eight years of Bush economics that got us into this mess in the first place!

I love to see anyone, Occupy, Tea Party, etc., exercising their Constitutional right to free/peaceful assembly...especially when Washington only seems interested in the rustling sound of greenbacks in the lobbyists' briefcases. We were told not to wear our uniforms when I came home...glad that's not the case today, but I worry that American's obsession with themselves and consumerism is leading nowhere. We can barely get 30% turnout for elections here in Texas and our leadership reflects that. I'm glad to see people waking up and demanding that something be done about the GREED that has led us into a shaky at best global economy. I never signed on for that or voted for it...but I still pay my taxes, even when unemployed, hoping that the smart phone generation will one day wake up and take America back for us middle-class working stiffs who seem to foot all the bills generated by Washington. I'd like to see the next bunch of demonstrators in Wash. carry signs directed at the White House and Congress that say..."You're Fired, Clean Out Your Desk." Working in Wash. should be a service thing, not a tenured, high-salary career choice for fat cats. Remember when there was actually a difference in the political parties...we were better off back then.
