F-350 DRW's
I see quite a few more of the DRW trucks on here lately and I notice there is a topic strictly for the 4X4's. My question to the moderators and to Keith is this................Is there enough of a population to warrant a specific topic devoted to just the quirks of the DRW's?

There weren't any DRW 4x4's until 1980.
There really isn't any difference at all between a single wheel F-350 and dual wheel one. If you put single wheel front hubs on a dual wheel cab chassis truck you could bolt up 4 standard 8 lug wheels and tires and have a SRW truck or vise versa.
There are notable differences between the F-100 and F-250 2wd class of trucks and the F-350 2wd trucks. There's "more beef" all over the F-350's.

With all due respect that is my point. But again with respect there does seem to be some difference between the single and dual wheel types. What I am getting at is that the F-350 guys are sort of left following the lead of the lighter trucks and to the newer guys that have one it can get somewhat confusing. And I do understand that no 4WD F-350's were produced for our era of our trucks excluding the Napco or similar conversions. The instance that you pointed out of the front hub conversion is the basis of my original post.

I don't see it being an issue. Of anything it would set a precedence for having F100 and F250 suspension subforums.

I answered... If you are feeling froggy make a thread in ther suspension subforum of the differences between the different frames and suspensions and we can sticky it.
I know the steering boxes and front bushings are the same between the F250 and F350 trucks. As Dustin said I think the only real different is the brake hubs being different for the offset wheels.

This has come up once or twice before. I know that two-bit and I talked about it and he even asked Keith. Keith felt that a forum just for the big trucks was not warranted at that time and I would guess that he'd still feel that way. I started a poll to see what the breakdown of F100s, F250s, and F350 was here years ago. I couldn't get the search function to find it. Maybe it has been purged by now as it was at least 4, maybe 5 years ago. I think there were a dozen or so F350s at the time and tons of F100s and a few f250s. Since then I know that at least 2 of the DRW guys from then do not own their trucks anymore, but a few have new ones have shown up too. Maybe you should start a new poll and see what the stats are now. I am guessing that DRW trucks are around 1% of the population here. I think the big trucks were mostly bought for work 40 years ago and all but a few have just worn out by now. I have personally parted out two that were completely used up and were only months from going back to the earth in a pile of iron oxide. There were many more of the lighter trucks built and sold, so there are just more left. The lighter trucks may also have had easier lives and not worn out as quickly.
We DRW guys are a proud minority. We can always get in touch with one another for issues specific to our trucks.

I agree on the warrant of the poll also Steve.
I can personally document over 40 bumpside DRW trucks in a 40 square mile are of my hometown one year later.
They're still around, just don't travel as much with the cost of ethel LOL!

SOLD-71 F-350 dually flatbed, 302 / .030 over V-8 with a "baby"C-6, B & M truckshifter, Dana70/4.11 ratio, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, full LED lighting on the flat bed, and no stereo yet (this way I can hear the rattles to diagnose)! SOLD!
Many Ford bumps / one 76' EB / and several dents through the years.
A lot of "oddball" Ford parts collected from working on them for 34 years now!

I have not seen another DRW bump on the road up here since I bought mine and started paying looking for others nearly 6 years ago. There were a few dead ones sitting around but they are gone now. I have seen one F250 and less than a dozen F100s. I know there are more on the road South of the rust belt. Ford just didn't build these trucks to survive winters on salted roads.
