4x4 custom truck insurance

Post by Ryan_1 »

Hey,
I am looking for an insurance company to get comprehensive insurance on my custom truck that will cover the truck for what it is actually worth instead of the depreciated value. I have seen hagerty but they require that the vehicle is garaged all of the time and not used as a daily driver, as mine is currently my daily driver...

I would also be interested in a policy where i can just get a $xx,xxx amount set on so if anything happens to the truck i don't lose out on it.

It sounds like what you want is an agreed value policy. I suspect its going to be hard to get one on a daily driver. I have no idea who writes in Alaska or what impact state law may have.

Don't know about Alaska but here we get the vehicle apraised by an aproved apraiser. Then insure it's worth by that. You have to pay a slightly higher premium to insure it's worth at a higher value. I would ask your insurance agent.

Ryan,
http://www.hagerty.com/ will do it for you.
But beware when I checked with them on my truck, there is "criteria" you have to meet for them to insure the truck. The one thing that turned me away was they require the truck to be garaged, (as well as pictures showing that).

On the other hand, Hagerty does insure your vehicle for your stated amount. It seems to be real good coverage. I haven't had to use mine yet, and hopefully I won't, but they are real professional and act like they know what they are doing. 5,000 mile a year limit, has to be garaged. But, I'm paying less than a third of what full coverage Progressive was. And I doubt Progressive would have given me a check for a thousand dollars if it was totaled. I'm satisfied with my experience with Hagerty so far.

Check with State Farm, they will do classic car insurance and will go by an appraised value.
