Good deal, Oregon super camper

Post by averagef250 »

Please, somebody else buy this before I ruin Christmas and my wife kills me!

Pitchers are fuzzy, but my gut tells me it's a nice one and that price is off one decimal place.

Looks good, and that is a crazy low price. I pass, I would like to swap my 68 3/4 C.S. for a 1/2 ton. Weight fee is high enough without jumping to a 350.

I forget many states charge registration based on GVW. Most F-350's are under 10K which is still the standard price here in Oregon. I registered a 14K truck at 10K once and they didn't argue about it, just stated the obvious to me- Don't get caught hauling over registered GVW.

Regardless, the super campers are neat trucks. They have a heck of a frame and suspension under 'em and handle excellent with big swaybars front and rear and good size brakes. Seams most of them had a powerlock in the Dana 70 rear too.

I made reference to those kind of rear wheels early. I was looking for a set. Nice truck.

My grandpa had that exact truck except it was copper instead of green.

I put a 5.9 Cummins/auto in a copper/white 77 SCS Ranger XLT for my dad. It's a really nice ride. I'm always looking for these trucks being parted so I can buy extras of the ranger XLT racetrack bedside trim.

I swear, I could make a boatload of money going out west and hauling back old Fords to sell. That's a $2500 truck here.

I posted in the ".net" classifieds, I've got a complete 76 Ranger cab/bed/front clip... Everything is there including interior, AC provisions, but the right rear bottom rocker corner trim, all in good shape and a title to the truck too if you're interested. I refuse to scrap it... I know somebody needs a good body.

You have a Super Camper Special F-350 or just a normal 76 Ranger pickup?

The Super Camper Specials have a totally different bed, the trim is completely different from a normal pickup because the tires are in a different place and the spare is in the bedside. The 73-75's used one bed and I think 76-79 used another, but 78-79 may have had another style, not sure since I haven't seen a 78-79 in person.

I owed a 78 CS, I "think" it was the same bed as the 76, but I'm mot 100% on that.

Doh! It's the usual bed. I wasn't thinking about the SCS rear axle position.

Damn, that's a good deal. And it's my favorite year and trim of dent truck. And it's only a few hours away. I wonder if I could come up with the cash to buy it and get it home.
