Repainting 390 engine and parts

Here's before and after pics of repainting the 390 engine and parts.

OILPAN









As you can see the oilpan was pretty rusty after removing the old paint and grease/oil from it.

Next I used the Purple Power De-Ruster to stop the rust before putting primer and paint on.




As you can you when the De Ruster dries it will look like a dark gray/black color.

Next its time to add the engine primer by Rustoleum




Next its time to add the Old Ford Blue paint by Rustoleum

Looks great. Amazing what gets us excited. When I tell my wife about stuff like this, she looks at me like I have lost it.

When I talk about mechanical stuff my wife tries to look interested, she does an OK job of it. I have just about given up on finding people to talk to about hobbies. The local hot rod crowd is well off and just worries about polish and driving to events, no one I have found likes to rebuild old cars and trucks. I would like to find a club that is dedicated to building and maintaining old iron. Humm.... Maybe I will start one!

Mine will pretend to be interested and then about 30 seconds after I fininsh taliking she says "what are you talking about?"
She doesn't know jack about cars/trucks.

Tough one at that Kurt. Fortunately for me I have found others outside the household to talk about things like this. I will not say it is a large group but enough to satisfy my needs and at least I did not have to go to a back alley for it I will agree that the car show crowd even by me can be a bit stuffy and full of themselves. Especially since everyones hot rod when you talk to them it a low 10 second car , being that I have been racing for over 27 years I know the real story. Then there is the fact that my bump and Impala are driven reguraly not like these trailer queens. What is the point of owning the vehicle if you are just going to stare at it in the garage?
