Installed the rear driver door and started on putting the interior back together. Im waiting for the passenger side front door panel to dry so I thought I would update.

Also got the seats put in, but they are the wrong color. I've had good luck with vynl and fabric dye from VHT, so when the cans show up in the mail Ill pull them back out and dye them black.

Also took a closer look at the rear door panels and they are rusted out bad, im going to have to make a run to the junkyard and cut down some standard cab door panels to fit.

But for now Im just going to enjoy driving it! :D

The truck looks great! Are you going to be putting a rubber OE floor mat or something different?

Thanks

I sprayed in a bedliner coating on the whole floor, even up under the dash. I dont plan on putting any carpet down its a about 1/8" thick and it insulates ok, best part is when it needs to be cleaned out I just get the garden hose and rinse off the floor.

I do plan to install some fiberglass insulation in the doors, back cab wall and the roof before i install the headliner.

That's a lot of truck, how does it fit in most parking lot spaces?

Thanks guys

Well as far as parking goes it doesnt fit! In a normal sized space it sicks out about 3 feet, and three point turns are required when turning around or parking.

Im going to be towing a 28' enclosed car trailer when i do my cummins swap so that should make things interesting. But it cant be worse than driving the semi with a 53 footer. Driving it now reminds me of driving the semi bobtail (without the trailer) brings back memories in a way.

That's about what I figured. I built a friend a '84 Chevy 3500 crew cab rollback and it fills two normal parking spaces but he usually takes up four so he can get out... I was looking at my '70 F350 trying to figure out what is the turning radius limit because it looks like my spindles don't hit the stops. I wonder if we couldn't get a longer steer box arm to get more throw out of it?

BTW, I'm doing the Cummins 2wd thing now.

Any chance you have an extra hubcap or two laying around from your parts truck?? I'm getting ready to polish and restore a set I picked up last month, but one of them has a decent dent in it. I'm not too far south from you near Gig Harbor...

Your truck looks great, you do fantastic metal work!

Well its been awhile since I last checked in, since that time Ive been driving the hell out of this thing and putting it to work! I havnt done anything else to the truck yet interior wise, but a few accessories here and there, and I still need to get a bedliner sprayed in when I can find some time to drop it off. I've put around 4-5000 miles on the truck since I got it back on the road, but Im averaging around 6-8 mpg which kinda takes away the joy in driving it.

Since the beginning of this project I planned to eventually drop in a 6bt and that time has finally come!

Today I picked up a donor truck for $1600 its an 89 non intercooled 3 speed auto, The engine's milage is questionable though the seller claims 164,000 but Im thinking 264 or 364. It doesnt smoke, no weird noises and it fires right up trans shifts through all the gears but is a little sluggish in 3rd. So I definatley plan on rebuilding the 727 and doing a few upgrades. As far as the engine goes from the looks of the pump I dont think its been tampered with and I plan on leaving it that way, I want mpg's and a little power to boot! I will definatley run a staight pipe though the sound this motor makes is music to my ears!

:woohoo:
