I actually brushed mine, it's amazing how far a quart will go when you do! Wasn't too bad to brush, I just didn't want to deal with the spray gun cleaning.

Yeah, use a cheap gun because that POR-15 pretty much makes the can useless for anything but black afterwards.

I'm back again, finally. Got out and sandblasted my coils, spring seats, radius arm washers and spring retainers and then realized it was too cold to paint. There's no way I'm staying shut down for the winter so I built this paint booth

and took it on her maiden voyage today.

Now I can blast and paint all winter!

Since things are going a little slow right now, I started picking through the "pile 'o parts" looking for something to clean and paint and thought I'd share my horde with everyone. Now, keep in mind, this is under my house which I, affectionately, refer to as my "man cave". Forgive the picture quality but it's kinda dark down there. Here's the pile I've spent the last year and a half accumulating BEFORE I started my project...
Photo12291713.jpg
My frame and cab are in the garage and here's the rest of my truck....
Photo12291713_1.jpg
All of this was hand carried, one part at a time, from the garage, around the house and into the basement, about 75ft one way. All of this without my wife ever knowing it was down there, for almost 2 years, until this past fall when the weather got so bad, and the tornado sirens went off, that we had to go down there for safety. :D She was not impressed.

Every time I check up on you I get jealous, I miss my shop in Ellijay and seeing your new paint booth makes me think of home and my shop. I might come home in feb or march to see my dad so I will have to swing by and say hello to you. I started a post of my project 1967 crew cab with a 08 grand marq front end swap under projects. Looks great keep up the great work
Be grateful for every day :fr:

My wife? NOT! She might break a nail. But she will be standing there cracking a whip!

Sure, man! Let me know when you're coming through and I'll get you my phone number. Checked out your project and I have to say I'm impressed. That's something I wouldn't tackle with the limited skills I have. Great work!

And thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement.

Oh now have you never read Huck Finn by Mark Twain? Tom manages to get his friends to pay him to do his work. Creative thinking should do it. :hmm: Either that or women are extremely competetive. Just tell her "insert name here"'s wife cleaned his whole garage one day when he was at work. If all goes well she will not want to be outdone by "insert same name"'s wife. This strategy will work best if it is someone she knows but doesn't associate with on a regular basis. The perfect candidate is someone she is jealous of.

LOL. Not my wife. She'd just say..."She's an idiot" and tell me to do it myself.

Best weather we've had in a while, low 60's and sunny, so I couldn't stand it anymore and had to "piddle" on the project. Almost out of blast media but I draped some left over poly in my paint booth and converted it to a blast booth. Had enough to do this
Photo12311159.jpg
and these
Photo12311241.jpg
Just a rattle can job with some silver engine enamel but it looks decent. Went ahead and disassembled my rear brakes so I can blast and paint the backing plates. Struggled with this E-brake clip, not enough hands and fingers to squeeze all the tangs

Then the light bulb came on and wrapped a hose clamp around it and tightened it down
Photo12311151.jpg
Tapped it with a hammer and punch and it slid right out, pushing the clamp off as it went in
Photo12311155.jpg
Well, out of paint, out of blast media and out of money. Come on payday!
