2wd highboy???

Looked at a 69 F250 today. It sat kindda tall and it was 2wd. So i asked him who put the leveling kit on the front. He told me that it as a F250 Highboy. I thought, uummmm a 2wd Highboy?? Did they make a 2wd Highboy? I was under the inpression that all Highboys where 4x4 and the frame was different making them sit taller than most trucks. Hence the name Highboy.

No, there's no such thing as a 2WD Highboy. Granted, it's a slang term, but it's used only to describe a '67 thru '77-1/2 F250 4x4 with a divorced transfer case.

I wonder why its sits so high then? I know the frame does look a little different than my 72 F100. Is this because its a F250?

The F250 frames use a slightly thicker metal, but not so much that you could really see it with the naked eye...you'd have to mic it to tell the difference. Otherwise, you couldn't tell the difference between an F100 and F250 frame if they were sitting next to each other.

I'm guessing it was simply a matter of the springs not sagging and maybe slightly taller tires.

Totally agree, what made them highboys was the clearance required for the transfer case. The guy probably just jacked it up in the front to make it level or appear more aggressive.
