well, I hate to spoil this bash the gal fest - but from the little bit I read, and remember folks, there's always two sides to a story - - - - I think you both have some issues you need to deal with.
Instead of spending so much time "waxing your truck" - your gal may act a little differently if you were job hunting a little more.
I have no idea of your situation - just going by what is posted here. Best of luck on both counts.

I hope your truck is not your addiction. Have you taken your girlfriend her out on a back country road enjoying a day out. Spending some time with her in your truck might make a difference how she feels about your Big Blue.

This goes against the grain of everything written in the man rule book. Section 4 paragraph 2 "women are always wrong, if you think one is right, then you yourself are wrong". :D

I really don't see how this could be upsetting to you. You don't have a job or the money to pay for work you had done to your truck and she had to put out her money on it. I can't think of to many girls that would be happy with someone or thing that is costing them money they might not have to spare. IMO you shouldn't have told a shop to fix your truck if you don't have the money or income to fix it, Look at it through her eyes.

If I had a dollar for every time my girlfriend (who became my wife) said she hated my truck, tools, tractor, etc I would have money enough to make her happy. Maybe. But I doubt it. She only got really nastey when I was referring to the racecar as "my girlfriend".

My advice is relax. Don't let her read this board. Find a job asap. Buy her flowers.

With each post I see more and more why she wanted the title...

Glad you got the ride back though...

here's my take : she laid out the dough for you to fix the truck up so she knows that the trucks important to you (and probably actually doesn't mind riding around in it),she just got pissy cuz you've been spending time with it instead of her - i go thru that whole same scenario on a semi-constant basis -she's a woman, they get jealous -even of inanimate objects- fairly easily
things i've learned so far :
...you can just make fuss over her for abit so she's all happy again and then go back to what you feel like doing & then jealousy will raise its head shortly thereafter
.. it works out a little bit better if you involve the truck in whatever "special" thing you do for her so she has some kinda fond memories of the truck as well -which you can use to diffuse any "i hate your truck" talk ..eg: "remember that time blah blah blah ".....takes a few times, but the complaints eventually lessen and the time between them grows (slightly)
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

Or in a perfect world, get some, then go sleep on the couch.

Downer there's no more available jobs in California. That's a real bummer. I'm sure your joblessness is 100% due to living in California. Look at the good side- More time to vent your frustrations on this site- yay!

No little guy, big truck or attitude issue here.... Just callin' it as I sees it's all.

I look at this is just another episode of life. It has it's ups and downs. In this economy it definitely adds to stress in many relationships. For me three and a half years ago my wife was diagnosed with stage IIIB breast cancer and knock wood is cancer free right now. That put a real strain on us financially that still affects us to this day, but she is still hear so that other problem will work itself out. So where I am coming from is let it go, work on getting a job which is a project and a half in your area with this economy, Don't sweat the small stuff and fight every battle, it is not good for all involved. Just my $.02

Don't feel bad. I've had my truck for 7 years and my wife has ridden in it a grand total of 2 times, at that was under protest. She had me going to pick up some donated yard sale stuff and, since I didn't know the people, I made her ride with me. Since then, she REFUSES to ride in it.
