Rolling Snow-Ball

Post by Mancar1 »

It all started with my finally getting someone to take the heavy as hell lumber rack off the 68. One of the guys let his end dip and the cab overhang of the rack smashed the center cab marker light. I am just happy it didn't damage the roof. Now I have my reason to replace the lights that I have been meaning to.
Took the headliner and the underlayment off for a easier time of it. I have all the marker lights removed, and will pick up the new ones today. Then I decide that I will make a wood panel headliner to put back on.
Now I get to thinking about the AM/FM I bought from Fo-Mo-Co several months back. Now is a good time to take the AM out and install the AM/FM.. I am going to take the dang-fangled Jensen I bought last summer out. To many buttons, as well as a REMOTE CONTROL. What the heck  The Jensen is in a box I built with the speakers. Sits on the Hump of the Bump. Guess I will modify the box and lower the cup holder to where the Jensen now resides.
Now I look around the shop and spot the spare tire carrier I bought from Livewire. Good time to install it
Thought the 68-2-do-list was filled for now. Wait what do I spy but the wiper delay that I bought from fordman way back when  On the list.
Guess I should visit the Boneyard and look for a 90's seat while I am at it. My original is in good condition, and would make a great Red-Neck couch 8)
With all the projects I have going it may be a while before the 68 rumbles once again.

What were you thinking along the lines of a wood panel headliner? I would be interested to hear about what you have planned there. Mine is in need of something up there soon.
And yeah, I know what you mean, I have had fixing an exhaust leak turn into a new engine before.

I will use my old liner, that is still very good, for a pattern and cut the new one out of wood paneling. I made a wood interior for a 79 I used to own. Did the overhead, door panels, arm rests, and console. That is what sold the truck for me. Lot of work, but wood working has been one of my hobbies since I was 14. Many moons ago

Despite the name...wood and I really don't have a very good agreement on the way it should look when I am done with it. Oh, I can build a whole house out of metal and have it turn out just fine but wood has it out for me.
Sounds like a neat idea though, be sure and get some pictures of it.

We made a headliner out of a corrigated pool liner years ago for my buddies old '65. It worked well but the whole truck rang when you shut a door.

Be carefull or you'll be doing a full resto before you know it...

The roof on my '67 F350 was buckled in but not creased. I layed on the front seat and pushed up with my feet to see if I could put it back in place. When it popped back out, one of the roof marker lenses shot 10 feet in the air!! Cooltoolguy was there with me and we had a pretty good laugh! Thankfully I had a spare...

Oh yeah a snowball effect for sure! Some of the guys here have done a decent job of the headliner using the laminated type material from lowes or home depot.
You'll be glad you changed the seat John! I couldn't believe the difference in mine, (just going to a 79) as far as comfort.
