What's on your upcoming to do list?

Post by sublimer »

For me...

1. Determine if I need to replace my steering column (all to fix my turn signal not canceling, sheesh)
1a. This could lead to fix the floor shifter
2. Replace my cab mounts
3. Replace my shocks
4. Replace the weather stripping around the doors
5. Replace engine gaskets
6. Get my horn working (I've never heard it)

The goes on, but these are thing I plan to get done in the next 2 months if I can get some nice weekends here in the mountains. :hd:

Put a known-good Autolite 2100 on my 69 F250...gotta wait 2 more days for the big brown truck to arrive. If that cures the problem...buy some single-malt Scotch and celebrate. If not, buy some single-malt Scotch and cuss and plan another angle.

I'm going to do something, not sure what but something. The list is too long, the time is too short, and I'm going back on nights in two weeks...

I have to get my mess completely cleaned up, organize everything in the backyard, put all the spare parts in the bed of the truck and cover it with a tarp. We have inspections coming in our housing complex and because I rent and not own i have to be inspected. One of the stipulations to allowing me to do this project is that everything would be organized lol. Glad inspections are only once a year.

1. Replace king pins
2. Replace I- beam bushings
3. Replace radius arm bushings
(Actually, do 1-3 at the same time! )
4. Rebuild rear brakes
5. Install inside A/C unit, run hoses to engine compartment
6. Install bucket seats and center console
7. Rebuild 390
8. Pull 360 out
9. Install 390
10. Fix whatever broke in the meantime

I hope to have it all done by the time I retire in 15 years

gotta love that plan!!

the 69's gonna get new rear rubber, new exhaust, new floormat & possibly a tank relocate. Depending on the rest of the situation, start on the '68, or possibly build a dent supercab

Anyone wanna buy a 46 pickup ??

#1- extend the shift arm on the trans so the shifter & column detents work properly
# 2 - replace the steering box- its gotten way to sloppy for my liking
# 3- replace the heater core and figure out whats going on with the wiper transmission
#4 - if none of these happen by summer i'll just ignore the problems and enjoy cruising around
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

Has always worked well for me, once I figured the logistics and scheduling...tasty beverages AFTER the work is done...otherwise some strange things can happen...like race slicks on a Pinto or Vega.
