Edelbrock Intake Manifold and 4 barrel Carb.

Hi.
I was wondering approximately how much more HP and performance would I get by replacing my stock manifold and a none stock 2 barrel carburater with a new Edelbrock manifold and 4 barrel set up? Will it also increase performance overall? My existing 2 barrel carb is not original and does not have an electronic choke and the manual choke is also gone. Eventually I also want to add headers and dual exhaust. Currently it has a new MSD ignition, MSD distributor and wires.
Engine is a 352 bored out to 390.

I just finished talking to a mechanic that has worked on the truck and he said it is running great the way it is and it is just a stock motor so do I really want to spend all that money for a new 4 barrel carb and manifold. Especially with the 352 Y=Block it is alot of work to replace the manifold, not as easy as say a 350. Not just a swap. So he suggested that I just replace the two barrel carb for one with electronic choke for now and think about headers and dual exhaust in the future.

Well, it is a 390, and you will see/feel and increase in power. However, I agree with him. If it runs really good, I would just put headers, a good carb with dual exhaust. Also, if the MSD dizzy is not vacuum advance, I would change to one that was. You will feel more power and drivability out of that than any other change.

I did the swap on just a 360, with unexpected bonus Edelbrock parts off my 4x4 donor truck.

Rarely do I open up the secondaries on the carb, but it is nice to have the option to do so. It makes a big difference in performance, however it also makes a big difference in how fast the gas gauge moves. $$

I did the same to mine (new carb,intake mani, and headers) and there's a noticeable difference in performance!

That looks great. I heard it is a lot of work. I heard it is alot more than just taking the manifold off and swapping it over. Can you tell me what was involved? What kind of headers did you put on?

Its definitely a weekend project. The hardest part is getting the old manifold out cause it weighs like 60 pounds and old gaskets can be like glue at times. Taking everything out is easy if you have the right tools. You have to drain the coolant, take off all the belts, the water pump, the a/c, the alt, valve covers, the rocker arm assembly, push rods, and anything else that's connected to it then when you put the manifold on you have to put everything back then time it.
