Got a New Truck!
I found a truck a couple of days ago that I just could not resist. It's a 68 F-100 with 111K miles, a one owner truck bought right here in Tucson. I've spend to last couple of days going through it end to end and I can't find anything wrong with it. Seven of the 360's cylinders have 135 to 150 psi and one (#7) has 125. It's got a 3.25 Ford differential with a T-18 and should be good on gas. The body is perfect, no rust and no dents. The bed is almost pristine. The glass is all like new. The dash - well, the dash looks like an Arizona dash - nasty. Now, for the surprise - had to be something, right? On its top sits the damndest thing you ever saw - a great big monster air conditioner - and it works too! Anyhow, I'm posting three photos attached to this post and three more on a separate post.

The thing is something else. It practically blows you out of the cab. I'm thinking the guy used it to cool the camper. Here's what it looks like from inside. Actually, I'm going to leave it on for awhile and eventually take it off. Then I'll have to put in a sun roof or get a piece welded in.You gonna do something with the roof or wimp out and enjoy the AC?

That is an extremely interesting piece. Very nice truck. My granfather had a early 70s Ford van with a roof A/C similar to that one on it. If you like originality, I would leave it on since it is an important part of the truck's past. That it works so well would only make it harder to remove, especially in Arizona. Looks good from inside also, clean installation. I would say keep it just as it is and enjoy it.

That is one nice purchase.. congrats The A/C looks like one you find aftermarket on heavy equipment that was an afterthought. But IMHO they will freeze ur fuzzy boys off worse than a setup right off the assembly line.

Man, you could put your cooler full of cans of your favorite beverage on the seat next to you, under that thing, with the lid open. It'll save on buying ice!
VERY nice truck! Congrats!

NICE!!! I agree on leaving that vintage a/c.

re: Got a New Truck!
Ha ha, you make a good point there, Juanito! I guess everything is relative. My 67 had a 352 which was able to travel a full 11.6 miles on a gallon. Once, on a 200 mile round trip I approached the heady area of 14 mpg!!! I now have a 390 in it which I drive (might as well admit it), a bit agressively but I haven't figured the mileage yet. Probably eight or so but what the heck, they're practically giving that stuff away at $2 a gallon! But, I have to tell ya, thats the first timeI have seen the words "360" and "Good on gas" in the same reference

Nice truck. And is it me or is #7 The culprit in most 360 & 390 Setups? Mine has a bad valve guide/umbrilla seal. So it probably hits 125 or below. and my 360 gets (with leadfoot plastered to pedal) 12 mpgs in town and 15 or 16 highway.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
