Tailgate locks

Post by SomersMerc »

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can buy a tailgate lock that would fit a 1967. I have checked a couple truck shops but they dont have anything for that age of truck. I am worried that someone might eventually walk away with my 1967 Mercury Tailgate. Maybe I might just have to try and make one myself?
LMC Truck did not have any when I asked.

Thank you.

What about using truss-head torx bolts to secure the hinges? Truss head so vice-grips can't latch onto sides of bolt. Not foolproof, but I wonder how many thieves carry around a set of torx bits.

Pretty much like our hood locks. Just have to make it our selfs. I would be interested in seeing what you come up with.
JCW has a lock by Bully, SKU 1JA 679705, that they claim will work for a 67. Looking at the pic I don't see how. Good luck on your quest.
