Well I went out to start work on the 68, and I decided to open the drive door on the shop. It is a swing open barn door type that I made. Keep meaning to get a 0 clearance door. Well I needed the 68 backed up about 5 feet so the door could open. No need to hook up the battery and start it up. Heck no I will just push it back. Well I braced my back to the frontend and pushed using my legs. Smart right? Little hump in the concrete so I pushed xtra hard. You know the sound when you pop bubble wrap? Sounded like a hundred of them popped at once in my left calf.
Hobbled in, using a old cane that was hanging in my shop. I rarely take any of my Vicodine, but this is one of those times I am glad to have it. (If it wasn't so early it would have been JD). I know I should have asked for Always was able to move the 68 before. Times R a-changing.
I am not one to give up. So before hobbling inside I used a 2x4 for a lever and moved the truck back

As I get older, I realize I can still do anything I used to, but the recovery time goes up and up every year. Hope it's minor, and you're back to full strength soon! Ken
And for some odd reason seems to cost more than it used to!
Rest well John, hope it's ok!

2008 Ford Escape 4 x 4
Thanks all.
Since I don't have my wife anymore to get sympathy from it sucks So when Sis and Mom stopped by I layed on the dog. Word got around and all my girls called. They all told me to take it easy and stay off my feet.
Well I haven't been out working on the 68 since the incident Ya right. Just don't tell any of the women in the family. They would come over and beat me with my hobble stick
I know it doesn't always work, but I still believe in the old. When sick, or injured, suck it up, and work it off. So far 62, going strong, and not slowing down.

Getting older is no picnic. I once tumbled down a 50 foot drop head over heels with a bullet in my hip and when I hit the bottom, kept running.
Last Friday I put myself out of commission by twisting funny when taking clothes out of the dryer. Somehow, that's not nearly as cool.

You do relize that explanation is required, right?

Nice one. But, no.
I was in the Corps right out of high school and for quite a number of years after. It wasn't always boring.
I tweaked my neck and upper back yesterday. Moved wrong I guess. I took some Motrin and forgot about it. This morning, I tried to get out of bed a little too quickly and my neck reminded me that things were not completely back to normal. Ouch.

Ever tried rolling the tires on the truck by hand? Can be easier especially with bigger tires...
Of course, just hooking up the battery could have prevented injury.
Careful with the self medicating / ignoring the injury, this can really jack you up.
Now... get yer butt outta the goat locker and report over to sick bay and have the medicos make sure you're ok. Use that Tri-care / VA you worked your butt off for.

I never give up. Get beat down by a project, get back up and carry on.
I sure do use the VA/Tricare. Tricare sure was a God-send all those years Vicki was ill.
