Edsel Ford saw potential in a bankrupt luxury automaker and purchased Lincoln for $8 million. Over the years, Lincoln has produced some of the most iconic vehicles in the world, including the 1939 Continental, the 1955 Futura (Batmobile), and the Continental Mark II..
Maybe someday I'll own one!

Edsel was VERY instrumental in the design of many iconic Fords and Lincolns...much to the dismay of his Ol Man.
Yup...the two butted heads often. An example is the Model T. Edsel fought Henry to kill it and replace it with the Model A...took the kid a few years to accomplish it...but ultimately Edsel prevailed and look at the success of the Model A! It finally brought more buyers back to Ford from Chevy and years of declining Ford sales. Course Knudsen's departure in the early '20's didn't help...
Old Henry was brick simple and Edsel was Wine and Caviar...two very different guys with but one love, all things automotive and mechanical.
Gee...do ya think Edsel's push to get Lincoln helped Ford? I'll let history speak for itself...
btw Jeff, I'm NOT in this picture...I was out sick that day...

Larry, i saw that you had posted and thought you might've also been in this one.
And did the union boss know you were out sick that day LOL!
The Lincoln line has always been a favorite of mine. Have a late cousin that took his 63' suicide door to the local figure eight track race here in Chattanooga back in the late 70's!
Guess who won the race!
