Don't drive on the snow with those tires!! With that rib in the middle and bias ply construction there is nothing with less traction in slick conditions.

Well I don't drive her in the snow so I should be ok. You can't see it in the pictures but I also went ahead and cut sipes across the center section of each tire about every 1/8 to 1/4 inch with a razor knife before I installed them. I've driven it in the rain a few times and it has plenty of traction with the sipes.

Well, once again it's been awhile since I've updated this thread so her goes for all you who follow this one but maybe not others I've posted. For almost three years now I've been building a stout 300 six for the old gal. The thread is here: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =3&t=46269 The build is just about complete. In the next week or so I should have it mounted on a test stand and be breaking her in. Here's a couple shots of how it sits now:
Image
Image

The specs on her are as follows- 9.0:1 compression
Crane 901 torque cam
EFI split manifolds
500cfm Edelbrock
Clifford aluminum intake
Head lightly ported and unshrouded exhaust valves
.022 copper head gasket for tight quench
crank turned, bored 30 over, head and block decked
Dizzy recurved
Newer block with 1 piece rear main, older head with adjustable valvetrain

Hopefully I'll be wrapping it all up and installing it within a month or so.

I know some guys that use 6x6's for work and they hate those NDT's. They say you can spin all 6 tires with 100 HP on a rainy day. Let the clutch out on a hill and 30K of truck and trailer goes backwards!

Maybe it's because they are newer and not OE tires, but that hasn't been my experiance at all. These are made by DENMAN, and they have been great. I was out in a downpour just a few days ago and was scared about taking off from a light on a serious incline and had no slippage at all. I would like to say that all the sipes I cut in them are the only reason, but I think they must have a little softer compound than the OE ones from back in the day. Either way, these work great.

Well, it's alive! I posted a build thread in the engine catagorie, but for those of you who haven't seen it here's a couple vids. I fired it up last night for the first time, and it sounds awesome! Crank up the volume for full effect. 8)

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get it in the truck. Hopefully I can get a day this weekend to at least yank the 360 and start cleaning things up. :D

I knew I was in a bad spot, but I was too determined to change my set up once I realized I was over the top of the carb. I wanted to hear that baby run, and it was getting late, eyesight be damned...

That is one good thing about fords the distributer being out in front of the carb. However it still winds up with flame blobs and the smell of burning nose hair. One thing is for sure now that after putting efi manifolds on my bro's 300 i will never suggest headers on one to anybody. The manifolds are the way to go. You get it in need to get a story together on the big crew big six it will be a good one for pages.... That is a sharp looking 300 for sure!!!
