Re: OT australian shipping
Paypal is easy and doable as long as he too is signed up for it. Then all you have to have is his email address / login to paypal / hit "send money" / enter his email address and the amount.

I had to go look, and yes it is accepted and used in Australia. If he doesn't have a Paypal account I'd question his accountability on his parts dealings. Your purchase is protected by Paypal, other methods not so sure?
You could always ask the guy if he'd sign up for Paypal, point out the advantages to him.

Re: OT australian shipping
I'd probably find another seller. Paypal doesn't protect anything unless you buy through eBay and even then it's sketchy if you'll get a refund. VISA or MC can but I doubt your seller can accept them unless he's a business and it doesn't sound like it.

hes a member on a forum similar to this one, he has a lot of posts and seems to be well respected... I think I might just chance it.. Ive had a heck of a time finding this piece, its even harder to find it in good shape. hes got a good price on it but shipping puts it up to about going price around here if I found one, which I havent. hmm... what to do, what to do. does anybody know if I can deposit money in his bank account from here without wiring it? (wiring money is expensive)

Yeah we use paypal in australia
If he doesn't have paypal that could be a problem though and I'm not sure how you tx between an external bank and paypal...don't think you can unless its a nominated account
just make sure its not a scam though, I'd be wary (as always online unless there's a 100% guarantee on the transaction)
