I figure this has been asked a few times before but could someone tell me what 'Bump' means when discussing the F-100s. I assume it to be a nickname for the trucks?
Shows how much I still need to learn about my '72 Ranger.
1949 Ford F-1
1951 Cushman trike
1963 Ranchero
1972 Ranger XLT
1980 Z-28
1985 S-15 4x4
'88 88" Paug (Started out as a '66 74" Shovelhead)
1993 LeBaron GTC
The horizontal body line sticks out on the 1967-1972 trucks. On the 1973-1979 trucks, it's indented instead. Hence, the nicknames Bumpside for 67-72, and Dentside for 73-79 trucks.

Thank's for the quick response. I guess the answer was too obvious for me to notice.

I thought it was due to what our head does to the hood latch everytime we work on the truck?

You ain't kidding there... ... Nowadays I clamp the hing on one side with a pair of vice grips to keep it up out of head bangin' range. Just have to remember to pull them off before trying to close the thing...
My girlfriend thought I was nuts when I referred to my 70 as a Bump. I tried to explain it but she didn't get it. One day we pulled in somewhere and parked next to a Dent. I got all excited and said, "See! Look! This is a dent and this is a bump. That's the difference. That's what I'm talking about."
Now she understands what I mean, but she still thinks I'm nuts.
Heh.. if I'm ever riding in the van with the wife driving I have a tendency to point out slicks, bumps and dents.... my daughter is like "Cool!" the wife is usually hitting the brakes thinking she's gonna slide or trash the suspension before she tells me to hush...
