Interesting 1968 F250 Ranger
I recently purchased this ranger - it has some interesting options. I'm wondering if they were from the factory or if they were dealer installed, or aftermarket.
1. It has 4 gas tanks. One behind the cab, a tank on each side of the chassis just like my '72 highboy, and it also has a rear tank where the spare tire usually is.
2. It has air pressure hookups at the rear fender behind the tires, i presume for air shocks.

I am thinking that with the limit that gas stations put on card use ($75-$100 per use) it would take you a few tries and a second mortgage to fill those tanks. Have fun.

Re: Interesting 1968 F250 Ranger
As far as I know the only factory options would have been the cab tank and one side saddle?

Ford only mentions the saddle tank here in the salesman's literature:

Re: Interesting 1968 F250 Ranger
seems to me that the second tank on the side was a factory option (mirrors the standard CS second tank) and the tank in the back was a dealer option but I'll be damned if I can find where I read it..I think it was in reference to a 65. I might just be confusing it with the mustang tank swap.

My '68 F100 390 C6 truck has the in cab tank as well as the two saddle tanks with locking doors like yours. Theres a switch in the floorboard beside the drivers seat. I have never tried either of the other tanks, just the in cab one. I'm a little concerned about how old the gas might be in them.

At Jeff: Its a '78 Bronco. I love that thing - its a ranger xlt w/ 400m engine. Its a beast. I bought it really cheap from a guy and the only thing it needed was a bunch of new vacuum hoses. It had lots of vacuum leaks. The '72 Mach 1 is not a ram air, its just a 351c w/ auto. But, it has a very straight, rust free body and runs great.

At Scott: yeah, you are smart to be careful about those extra tanks. I learned that lesson the hard way on my '72 highboy - I was filling up with the lower drivers side tank for a few weeks and I had lots of problems with the rig stalling - turned out I found a pebble the size of the steel fuel line blocking the fuel at the 3-way switch.
