A view from the side. I used the mounting screws that came with the tank to secure it to the top of the 1-inch square tubing. It's
10.5 lbs lighter than the old in-cab tank. It also moved 120lbs of gasoline back in the truck as far as it good possibly go!

I ran errands with the wife today, went to lunch with her, and then did yard work. I managed to occasionally sneak in the garage and I got the gas tank and its mounting frame painted this afternoon too! :D

Here's the gas tank waiting for next weekend to come! Rust-Oleum rattle can High Performance Enamel flows out pretty darn nice. 8)

The Mustang gas tank is permanently installed. I cut a hole in the bed today for the filler neck/cap. I plan on doing like Bobbyford did and cut down a stock in-cab filler neck and using a short piece of hose to secure it to the tank.

I cut down the stock cross member and bolted it on top of the frame. It clears the tank and the bottom of the bed where it's at. I welded nuts on the inside of the frame rails to make installation easier. I also welded the bumper bracket mounting nuts on the inside of the frame. With the tank frame securely mounted and the modified cross member bolted down there is zero flex at the rear of the frame.

Bobby thanks. It's slowly getting closer to being done. I need to get some fuel lines and fittings to get the fuel to the carb. The next big thing will be paint. I'm also thinking of getting my hubs and axles redrilled to the Mustang pattern. My twin brother is a darn good machinist and can hook me up. There are thousands of Stang wheels available to choose from! I'm looking for something light and affordable.

I worked on the Speed Bump some this afternoon. I had to trim the rear bed support some in order to get the bed to slide all the way forward. If I had to do it again I would mount the tank 1" forward. Right now it's flush with the end of the frame. The filler access is good...I'll be using it a lot once the mighty "429 CJ" is going! :D

I finished my exhaust system this weekend. I cut and welded the tailpipes so that the 18-inch stainless tips exit out the side between the tire and the bumper at a 45-degree angle. They're 3-inch inlets and 3.5-inches at the tip. I used lap-joint stainless band clamps to secure the tips to the tailpipes. Next weekend I'm going to start plumbing the fuel system with AN-8 line and fittings.
