1969 F100 Camper Special?

Post by Kraig »

My free 1969 F100 LWB Ranger truck arrived this past Wednesday. It has a big block FE, C6, 3:50 posi, PS, PB, factory bucket seats, behind seat storage,
frame mounted factory gas tank and an aftermarket outside frame tank on the passenger side. It is fairly solid and straight and runs well. Definitely restorable!

My question concerns the cowl mounted "Camper Special" emblems. Did they make a F100 Camper Special in '69? This truck was made the first month of '69 production which could explain the '68 placement of the emblems (on the cowl). The truck has an extra capacity radiator, evidence of "Western" style mirrors
having been on it, Flex-O-Matic rear shackles and an extra stack of springs for a total of 10 leaves on each side. It has a "manual" trailer brake controller mounted under the dash. It has PB and PS. Of course being a Ranger it has all the dash mounted gauges.

If it wasn't a Camper Special why would someone do such an excellent job of mounting the Camper Special emblems?

Any help would be appreciated. I got if from a guy that has owned since '86 and says it is a Camper Special.

Thanks,
Kraig

How many lug nuts are on the wheels? From your description it sounds like you have a rebadged F250 or someone spent a good bit of time swapping the rear suspension.

Pictures would be wonderful as well.

It's 5 lug all the way around with a 9" rear. Vin indicates it's a F100. Will try to post more pics sometime this weekend.

I am no expert but I thought some of the F100's did come as Camper Specials. I always thought a Camper Special meant F250 but came to realize in the last several months after several others on here talked about it that it was available in the F100's also. As always I may be wrong about it but I do think it was available
Sounds like a pretty cool truck with the extra tanks and bucket seats. I had a set of them seats once and traded them for some stupid wheels. Sure wish I'd have kept them
