Bought the Wife this Crown Vic Sport Pkg!

Post by dolinick »

We had been looking for a car for my wife to drive until we could afford to get a Ford Flex which is what we(she) really want(s).
I went a little over budget perhaps but found an awesome Crown Victoria. It's a 2002 LX Sport with 34k miles! The interior is like new. The exterior is excellent with a few scratches and scuffs here and there.

Very Nice. And as soon as she gets the Flex, one of your Bumps gets modern running gear... right?

I was looking at a crown vic front end swap and thinking about how my wife's car's front end would work in a bump just fine.

Actually I was thinking what if the seven year old boy want's to drive it ten years from now when it's a classic and he gets his driver's license... We have a fifteen year old daughter also but she want's a blue truck.

Heh, kids...

My 10yo daughter wants the bumpside. I keep thinking about what changes I can make to slow it down even more, and make it use more fuel by the time she is 16. By the time she can work out speeding it up and affording the gas bill to actually drive it much, I won't have to worry so much....

That's good because the wife and I find it hard to "not speed" while driving it. It just wants to go fast. :D

I own a 2008 Crown Vic and a 68 F100 short bed. Wife drves an Avalon. My wife and I love long road trips and have driven the Crown Vic all over the county. Two years ago we drove from Florida to Michigan (visited the Ford museum), St. Louis and back. Last year we drove from Orlando to Vegas, New Mexico, Colorado and back. This year we're going back to Colorado. The Crown Vic is one of the best road cars ever built. Drives like a dream at 75 MPH and get 27-28 MPG. With over 90,000 miles on the car, it still drives like new. Can't believe they want to stop making this car... Long live rear wheel drive!

Congrats. That is a great cruising car, plus it is set up on a proven drivetrain meant to run forever

Why even bother with the Flex? The Crown Vic is comfortable, reliable, versatile, and tough. I'd totally rock that as a daily driver.

Good Point. It is my wife's daily driver and replaced the 1999 Suburban. She loves it. We all fit in it. I am looking for a newer F250 Crew Cab. So maybe she'll forget about the Flex when we have the Crown Victoria and the Crew Cab.

I have been driving my '70 Crew and it's running pretty good. Still needs a manifold leak fixed and it has a transmission fluid leak. I found a 2000 F250 Crew with 7.3L Diesel and a manual transmission AND it's 2 wheel drive! It appears well maintained but not pristine at 171,000 miles. There is a fifth wheel ball hitch in the bed. It's on a used car dealer's lot here in San Antonio. If he hasn't sold it in a week I still might be able to get it. He is asking $7995.00

I thought the price was a bit low but it does need a new set of tires.

Those were 30k + when new. Comfy, powerful, 25mpg. I would wear it out, then buy the flex.
