New Wheels/Tires on my 67 Mercury

Post by SomersMerc »

1967 Mercury M100
Put on the new wheels and tires today. 245/60/15 on 7"/front and 275/60/15 on 8"/rear
Now I need to finish the side emblems (see 67 emblems before and after topic) and wax the oxidized paint. The project continues!! Some previous additions from previous owner like the chrome trim on hood and rear reflectors under tail lights.

Looking real nice! If it was me, I might think about leveling that truck out with some shackles and air springs. But I wouldn't kick it off my driveway for dripping gear oil!

Looks great. I like the stance but I am not one to lower a truck. I used to have a set of moons on my 71 years and years ago. My dad bought them off a man at the beer joint when the man lost too much money in the back room poker game. All of this while I waiting in the truck. lol Wouldn't float these days would it? I went in most days but it was too late in the day after we'd split wood most all day. Dad did bring me a soda after a couple of hours and my 71 did have some pretty wheels when it was given to me about 6 years later so I can't complain. lol

Sharp truck, Dave. If it's got a 390, a set of those 390 fender badges would be a nice touch. Did you get the original owners manual with it?

That's not oil. That's the honey dripping from such a sweeeeet ride.

Hi guys.
That's for the compliments. I am pretty sure the box is off a newer ford. Tail lights say 70'. Most of the marks on the driveway are from my 2004 f150 as well as water from just bringing the truck home from the car wash. That being said it does have a small tranny leak.
Mike, I do not have the original manual. The previous owner passed away so I bought this truck off his wife. Her father was the original owner so someday I will have to ask the history? He lives in BC. I do have all the tear down/restoration photos from 1998. It was my brothers best friends truck that he got from his father in law. The more I work on it the more things I see. Such as the box, the rear reflectors that you mentioned as well as the chrome trim on the hood. Also muffler brackets under the bed for duel exhaust but it only has single exhaust. Just picked up new classic wipers blades today that match the ones in the photos.
The motor and truck still needs lots of work.

I doubt the box is newer if there's no lower rear side reflectors. Likely just a case of someone using newer rear lenses and the '69 Ranger rear reflectors. I'll check my stash to see if I've got another manual.
