Proof that bumps are cool!

We went shopping this past weekend and I found a book I had to buy because it struck me as interesting! If anyone ever wondered if it is cool to own a bump, they can stop wondering. It turns out that the king of cool himself, Steve McQueen, owned a '68 model that he used as a ranch truck! I dig the light mounts blended into the front bumper and the crome baby moons! They say that every vehicle he ever owned, he always customized or changed something, just to make it his own.

My bump is missing the same piece of chrome that McQueen's is, so I must be cool too!

And my truck must be way cool too. The only trim I have on it is the one missing from Steve's truck. That's cause he gave me his trim piece.

I kinda wish those Z / 250 GTO kits from Joe Alphabet (back in the 80's) were still available... you could have/be McQueen and Newman at the same time.

They're still available, not from Joe Alphabet. The kit is around 10 grand. I ain't so cool that I can afford that. Would be nice, to have the kit and the cash.

Nah, that last new "alpha" kit I saw doesn't have a hood anymore... just one piece front... Joe's original kit still wasn't completely accurate, but it was better than what I saw the last time I looked. And a hell of a lot cheaper. I seem to remember he had Ferrari motors available for $2500 less than that new body kit too...

I did some searching and found what I was thinking of. A Velo Rossa kit for about 5 grand.

This converts a 240Z into a Ferrari 250 GTO.
$5,000 is only a starter kit. I bet the finished project will be way over 10 grand including the purchase of the basic car.

Ah, that's where the one-piece front end ended up...

I remember a complete kit from before that which was somewhere around $9995 a decade or so ago... Alphabet was selling the Ferrari engines for something like $7500 with some sort of 4V manifold, or you could get the 6-duece intake and carb setup was something like another $5000, then there were the various trans adapters...

In any case, if I had that much cash laying around for 'cool' toys, I'd probably just buy a whole mess of Bumps to clean up and spread the love... because they ARE COOL.
