Help me name my truck

Post by Ripsnorter »

Adding a Poll

In the interest of getting my girlfriend involved in my passion for old trucks, I've decided to name my truck. Neither of us can agree on a name, so we're asking you guys for some input. Plus I think getting her involved in the forum is helping too. Once she realizes you're a bunch of cool guys, she'll be more inclined to like my truck too.

I'm just full of ulterior motives.

Her first choice was Beast. I vetoed it since all old 4x4s seem to be named Beast.

She now thinks she should name him/it Phil. I'm just not feelin' it.

I suggested George or Bert, but not feelin' those either to be honest.

Suggestions?

Oh Honey, I know you are full of ulterior motives! :o not that I mind though  I think we should name the truck "Frank". Sounds classic and reliable, a good, strong name. Guys, what do you think?

RipSnorter, these names pop in to my mind when I see your truck:
  1. The Gray Squirrel
  2. King Arthur
  3. Candy-Wagon
  4. Fire
  5. Flintstone
  6. Eagle Egg
  7. Inferno
  8. Red Knight
  9. Red Fox
  10. Foggy
I think at least one or two of those are already "taken" by other members, maybe (mostly a guess).

I can think of more, but perhaps you're looking for more traditional (human) names.

Dent...
Unless you own more than one dentside then you'd need to add a color in front of one or all other dentsides you have.

Looking at the color scheme of your gorgeous Dent, I think you should name her after that wondrous combination of Aluminum Oxide and Chromium which produces the Red gemstone known as RUBY.

I vote for Rob's very well thought out suggestion: RUBY!

Ultimately, it's not the name that's important here, it's getting you girl involved. If you don't accept the name she picks, she's not involved. If she's anything like my lady, she'll never let you forget that point. Suck it up and say, "Oh Honey, that's the best name ever!"

call it "honey do" - then when working on it you can say with a straight face

"....but I'm working on the honey-do list" :)
thanks

I really like Rob's name, but I'm thinking this is a male truck.

And she came up with a name I like a lot, Frank.

So, as Racer said, I'm thinking I'm putting Frank as top contender here so she's involved.

My Bump got named "Daryl". Not by me, no way. Not exactly by my lady either.

We were on our summer vacation and stopped by the Wall Mart somewhere in Arkansas. It was a hot day and we had the windows down. As we pulled into a parking spot, we heard a lady yell out, "Hey! There's Daryl's truck!" ...pause... "Oh d@#m. I thought it was Daryl."

We never saw the lady and we don't actually know if she was pointing at us or not. But ever since we laughingly call it Daryl. Later, I did some research to find there are many ways to spell Daryl. I've always thought of my truck as a lady and don't really like it having a man's name. But eventually I remembered that Daryl can be used for a woman too. Daryl Hannah, for instants.

So, Daryl is doing just fine today, thank you.

It looks like a "Bill" to me, and if you start sinking many pieces of paper currency into it, "Bills".
Of course, after the occasional bathing and cleanup, perhaps the more formal "William".
