Prayer request

Please be in prayer for my step daughter-in-law and my grandchildren. She and my step son are 27 years old and have been together since they were 14. She left him and the kids behind last weekend and ran off, leaving the kids with him (and us) while she moved in with some older guy she met 2 weeks ago. It appears drug related. Aw H3LL, let's just call a spade a spade....She's on the sh-t and running wild. She left last Friday and came back and got her clothes yesterday. We're seeing a lawyer on Friday. She hasn't even asked about the kids and hasn't spoken with them since she left. My granddaughters are 6 and 2 years old. The 6 year old is my little buddy and stays firmly attached to my side everywhere I go, even "helping" on the bump. She is such a happy child and a true blessing to be around. I have already seen the light dim in her eyes and I hate what this is doing to her. The 2 year old just asked for her mommy for the first time today. Please pray for her to get clean and be a mother to her children, even if they do divorce, and for my granddaughter's to feel loved, secure and happy with us and their daddy. Except for last year when they finally moved out a got an apartment only to lose it last Feb, the babies have lived with us their entire lives. And also pray for the courts to do the right thing by the children and give him custody and us guardianship. This may get real ugly and we really need all the prayers we can get.

Sorry to hear this and pray that you can come up with the right words for your grand daughters to help them through this. And your step son too... Very difficult scenario you're in and you all need to remember they're all young and especially the grandkids and so impressionable. They don't need to hear bashing or hateful things but will need some explanation of what is going on somewhere down the road.

Gonna need to give 'em extra hugs and continue to be the best grandfather you can be. Might want to try to keep the kids away from her for the time being. Don't need somebody all whacked out on dope near them. Can only be bad...

it's so sad when things like that happen especially when children are involved.The child is the one most effected over all the dilemma. Being drug related i would say that the mother will come to her senses one day but will be way to late to recover her family. Addiction is one of the greatest diseases known to man and 1 of 3 things things can happen to the one infected , jail, institution, or death. That is if she has not recoverd before then. I know it will be hard to explain to your grand children the state of their mother but do wish you and their father all the luck . You can bet that there is no court in the world that is going to let a child go to a drug infested home.

Praying for your family and you. Sounds like you are a "great" grandfather. I recommend that you prepare your son for the possibility that she will return to your doorstep when her current relationship goes bad, and it will. He needs to know how he is going to react to that sitution before it happens.

Thanks to all for your words of comfort and encouragement. We can only pray and be there for the kids. It's in His hands and the legal system now. Hopefully, my son (he's my wife's youngest but I consider him as mine) will stick by his guns and not get weak. Right now he says she's killed any feelings he had for with her words and behavior in the past week. Not seeing or talking to the girls is the nail in the coffin. He's lost all respect for her. He's playing hard ball now and is determined to keep those girls here.

I'd advise getting your step son to an alanon meeting or (I'm not sure if there is a Narcotics equivalent) something similar, it will help him deal with her (actually the addiction). Try to remember it is not her making the decisions right now, it is the addiction and the addiction will do anything to get the drugs.

Thanks again, all. We meet with a lawyer tomorrow to have the papers drafted. She says she'll sign whatever but we're keeping our fingers crossed and our hands folded. I really hate all this. She's been like a daughter to me for the past 10 years but I don't even know who she is anymore. My only concern in this is for the kids sake. I had a bad divorce with my 1st wife and spent 8 years eating crap from her until I my girls turned of age to make their own decision and come to live with me. I can't stand the thought of these grandkids going through what my kids did. Ya'll continue to pray for the babies.
