Heard a hissing in my garage, many years ago, looked up and there was one sitting on a rafter. I opened the door and left.

Well that's interesting.. Everyone I know around here will kill them as soon as they find one. I've never heard of anyone rescuing one to keep as a pet.

They're big and vicious when they're wild is all I know. They'll kill a cat if they get ticked off enough.

I can understand keeping a raccoon from young though. They're smart and cute and can be tamed if gotten young enough.

Good luck with the Possum!

Thanks a lot.

I just remembered my first encounter with a possum.

I was a wee lad of about 7 or 8 when I heard some rustling in the bushes beneath my window at night.

I slipped out in my jams with a flashlight thinking it was my cat.

I stepped into the bushes hunched over and shined the light right on that hissing b4stard, and promptly crapped myself.

Through my tears I swore to my mom that it was the biggest damn rat in existence.

Well he is cute, but those teeth look sharp. :D I think he has found a good home and he will probably be around a long time.

Good for you. Does he actually seem attached you you? Will you keep him longer term?

He is kinda cute. Do they revert back to wilder instincts when they get older or if you get them young enough will they stay pretty tame into their adulthood?

Yeah, once they're used to people then they won't ever bite. My brother-in-law told my sister, NO, so I'm keeping him. I just have to build him a bigger cage.

My wife wants one so she started looking and found some in the local online clasifieds. Going rate for a Opossum in Pa.... $200 for a male and $250 for a female. I think we ll wait and see if we can find an orphan.
