Off-Topic: Music

Post by Ripsnorter »

I'm in a musical mood, and I'm sure this has been done before, but what the heck.

I'm listening to Joan Jett - I Hate Myself For Loving You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPkTGm4RtVM

Before that it was Blondie - Heart of Glass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGU_4-5RaxU&ob=av2e

What about you guys? Favorite songs from BEFORE 1985?

As far as music that just feels right while riding in a Bump, Johnny Cash can't be beat.

Oops, I broke my own rule. I hate myself for loving you was release in 1988! I thought it was earlier. Fine, make it 80s and earlier. :D

Too many to list. Especially when you throw the 80's in there as I was a metalhead in the 80's and still love my hard rock. But I also love the old stuff. Can't go wrong with Johnny Cash. Ill also break out Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, and even some old Country that my dad used to play in the garage when I was a kid. Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, etc... Good old garage music.

Im going to break your rules too though.. I also like to play some Black Keys when working on the truck as they have a very old school blues sound. But for anyone that like me that likes both hard rock, and old rock, then you HAVE to check out Volbeat. They basically mix hard rock with old school rock for a very unique sound. Think Johnny Cash, meets Metallica, meets Elvis, with a little bit of Misfits thrown in for good measure.

Check them out, you wont be disappointed if you appreciate older rock and want to hear something new! Here are a few to wet your tastebuds:

What he said!

Also:

How 'bout Joan Jet: I Love Rock 'n Roll (put another dime in the juke box, baby!)

Anything by Elton John and Bernie Taupin (you can't beat his Yellow Brick Road album; still a classic 35 years later). Elton by himself, not so much.

Billy Joel: Iron Curtain

Bruce Springsteen: Born to Run, Pink Cadillac

Anything Eric Clapton (and his various iterations). Born Under a Bad Sign, White Room, Cocaine, Cross Roads, Layla (both electric and acoustic), ...

Blondie, Police, Boston, Yes, Moody Blues, BB King.

Gotta stop; I could do this all night! Excellent thread!
