carpet vendors
I figure this is the place to start, at the point of ordering replacement carpet for my 68 f100, wondering who the best vendor is. Ive found it thru LMC, NPD, JC Whitney, stockinteriors.com and a few others. Hoping to get a replacement that is not a killer on the wallet but fits correct and will last more than a year. Any pointers in the right direction appreciated tremendously

Re: carpet vendors
Newark, through JCWhitney, has sets to fit our Bumps for about $75. Used them back in ancient times for several different cars... they all fit nice, and their cheap loop is a fairly close match to what was used for carpet in most of the stuff from the late 60's/early 70's...

Re: carpet vendors
When I restored the interior of my 72 F250, I bought the molded carpet from Stock Interiors. It was a terrific product that I was very happy with. I also requested that they did NOT trim the edges which gave me a lot of extra. This allowed me to have plenty to make sure it fit along the sides as well as plenty to wrap up along the cab wall behind the in-cab gas tank.

Re: carpet vendors
I assumed it came in only one size, having extra is a good thing.

Re: carpet vendors
I ordered from stockinteriors.com. There is a 5% off coupon code that is current. Just call customer service to get it. I forgot what it was, but RETURN09 works as well. They were by far the cheapest. Make sure when you are looking at price to include the shipping. Some places was insane. Even Stockinteriors was crazy insane when I added weather stripping. Just the weather stripping alone made the shipping jump $40. I should be getting the carpet W/mass backing soon. I will let you know what I think then. I asked for it to be untrimmed as well. I also called customer service and asked what the difference was between the carpet w/gas tank and without. They said the WITHOUT was longer in the back. Even though I have an in cab gas tank I submitted my order as if I didn't. Again, I will let you know how the fit is.
They also sent FREE samples as I was not sure what "tan" I wanted to go with.

Re: carpet vendors
I got my carpet installed from Stock Interiors. It fit pretty good. I ordered it untrimmed and it came with a lot of extra. I also ordered it without gas tank, even though I have one inside. It came up about half way up the back. I also ordered the mass backing. I was not impressed. I thought it would be a foam type material, but it was like some melted plastic. Made the carpet very hard to work with. I would forgo it if I had to order again.

as you can see on the hump above the stick, it is all bunched up. I cannot get it straight no matter what I try.

Re: carpet vendors
I have that exact same problem with my LMC carpet. Fits very well, except it has about a half inch gap on each side by the doors and kick panels. I'm not really sure what to do about it either. And I'm %100 sure I have the right carpet for my cab.capeclassics wrote:I got mine from LMC and it doesn't quite fit along the door edges........hoping it sretches out some.

Re: carpet vendors
I went with stockinteriors.com, seemed like they had goos reviews and was most economical. I put down the sound deadening material over the entire floor, had it glued down real well and it seemd to fit overall good. I took the sound pad off the hump, seemed like it was too much and it did bring it closer to the kickpanels on both sides. Originally when I layed it in the truck it was way off from touching the kick panels but I kept working it forward and manuevering it to where its basically touching the kickpanels on booth sides and along where the sill plates will go. Seems like its a qulaity piece, has the rubber mate under the drivers feet and the side and rear edge has a molding sewn in

Re: carpet vendors
Based on reviews from this site, I also bought from Stock Interiors and I cannot say how it will fit yet as I have not installed it, but I did take it out and take a look at what they sent me and it looks like a VERY nice product and is put together well.

Im going to let it set for another day and try to getvit trimned whete it will tuck undervthe firewall pad, looks like with a little effort its going to work out well,no complaints with the quality at this point. Need to see if they sell it by the yard so i can cover the area where the gas tank was..

They sell both the carpets and the jute backing by the yard. I bought by the yard to do the crew cab portion of my cab.
