bought a 70 F250

Post by abyars111 »

We just bought an all original 1970 F250 Crew Cab with a short bed. It is a 2wd with factory disc brakes, a 390 2v, C6, factory a/c, auxiliary fuel tank, Ranger interior. It has the original interior with only a tear in the drivers seat and a nice hole some knot-head cut out of the front door for speakers. It has mag wheels now but the owner gave me some 16" steel wheels. The truck is in Phoenix and will be picked up by the carrier early next week.

The current owner has owned it for 20 years, they used it for Cub Scout camping trips and family camping trips.

It runs but has been sitting off and on for the last year so it needs a tune-up and fresh gas.

My family can't wait for it to arrive, my two daughters are counting down the days.

We will install shoulder belts, remove the in cab tank and get the A/C running. Maybe next year we will either repant it white or change it to red with black interior. For now we plan to just enjoy it as it is. We have a small camper we plan to tow with it.

I need to locate a 70 grill insert, an original AM/FM radio and a set of F250 hubcaps. If anyonw has any of these parts they'd like to sell please let know. I will take a working or non-working radio, I plan to have it converted to digital by one of the radio restoration guys.

Where do you guys prefer to buy parts, LMC, MAC's, etc.? There are a few little knick-knack things I need. Window crank knobs, etc.

:wel: from SoCal from a fellow crew cab owner!!

You are going to run the 16 inch wheels with hubcaps over those 5 slot mags?? I am guessing because you dont want the 16.5 inch wheels and tire issue as that can be the only reason I can think of. Those old school 5 slot mags are in demand and you should be able to sell them with no problems at all, especially on this site.

Looks like a great truck, and the ranger interior on the crew cab is SWEET!! If your truck was ordered that way and it is stock, thats pretty rare as most of the crew cabs were ordered as work trucks and the ranger interior was not selected very often!

On a side note, I am pretty close to sending my crew cab off to paint and then putting it back together. I am going to have a good amount of extra parts that I am going to be selling and might be able to knock off a bit of your needed list. I am putting electric windows in my truck and I am pretty sure I am going to have window cranks (at least 4, maybe 8 of them) so once you have a list of what you need, let me know and Ill see what I can do for you.

Where are you located?

I've got the dog dishes from my '69 F250 if you want them. It's a ranger as well so they might match what came on these trucks in 1970. I think they might have a few dents in them, and the paint is faded and worn. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks, guys.

The truck was ordered with the Ranger interior, this is only the second bump crew cab with a Ranger interior and I've looked at them for 6 months. It was originally Harbor Blue but the first owner painted it white over 20 years ago.

The trucking company is supposed to pick it up next week. My whole family is anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

I'm located in North Alabama.

I'll get a better list when I get the truck, I know I need those window cranks as the knobs have fallen off the originals.

Man, now I'm getting crew cab envy. Have to keep an eye out for one locally cheap.

The truck was finally delivered last Thursday as we were leaving for the weekend. I finally got to go over it good yesterday and am happy with it. It runs well on a gas can for now as I will be dropping the tank this week and cleaning it and replacing the rubber portions of the fuel line and filler neck.

I have a few things I'm missing if anyone has any extras to sell.

front chrome bumper bolts & nuts
1 - headlight retaining ring & screws
inner & outer headlight bezel nylon nuts for 70-72
2 - front park light assemblies with lens for 70-72
1 - 70 grill insert
2 - F250 hood side emblems & lens
F O R D hood letters for 70-72
4 - black or chrome door lock knobs
4 - black window crank knobs
2 - standard rectangular chrome mirrors
hood lip molding assembly

I know LMC sells all of this stuff but I was trying to put it back together with cast off parts to save some money so I can have it panted later.
