Is the site still screwed up?

Post by papabug71 »

Is it? I haven't been on here in 6 months due to the site issues. Is anyone having issues like they were a few months back with the site locking up & kicking you off?

I boycotted the site hoping it would be resolved.

The search is still not quite what it used to be but I've gotten into the habit of Google searching instead, anyway. I've had a few issues with the "server too busy" error, in Firefox, but switched to Google Chrome and had no issues after that. I still prefer Firefox but if I encounter issues, I jump to Google Chrome and for some reason it seems fine then.

I use IE9 and I do not have any issues with this site locking up or kicking me off. May be something on your end.

I've had major issues in Chrome, for some reason it doesn't update the cookies all the time so its not uncommon for it to pop up an error about no data received. You can refresh it for a while but eventually it will just fail consistently. The only way I've been able to resolve it is clear out all the temp files and cookies.

I use Firefox and have had no major problems. Sometimes the search function doesn't work for me, but that's it.

I can't get on at work with the newest IE whatever and windows. I just network errors from works hubs. I can search Fordification under Yahoo's image search and can browse the forums that way but it's not much fun.

The garage puter needs the cookies and temp files deleted about once a month or I'll get an error when I reply.

Good afternoon,

I've found that the various Web browsers I've used need to have their caches periodically emptied to keep working with FORDification.

Also, several of my threads have had posts mysteriously deleted from them, or duplicated within them, and that's just what I've been able to notice during the occasional searches for old information. I haven't had the heart to go through and thoroughly check all my old threads. Changes to my Web browser's cache don't have any effect on those symptoms; I suspect that genuine (and probably irreparable) data corruption has occurred in the forum's database. Things have become subtly jumbled up.

This forum still has the best group of people anywhere, in my opinion. Yet due to these data loss and data corruption symptoms, I'll not invest any significant time posting here again without coming up with an independent backup method.

I guess I'm just blessed. For the past month I've had no issues other than the search and I'll just wait a few minutes between searches or "view xxxxx post(s)" and it works fine. I'm running Vista on this one (booo vista) but I'm running Win7 on my netbook. The site functions better under Chrome on my netbook but runs OK with Firefox under this one's Vista. And I'm on here A LOT! Just ask my wife.
