Well three of the trucks I was looking at were sold before I could make up my mind or had time to go see them. Two were 4 wheel drive 6.0 diesels with automatic transmissions and one was the 7.3L and six speed. I test drove a 2003 lifted 4x4 with a 6.0 and 140k miles but he wanted $12k for it. But I found a 2002 F250 2 wheel drive with six speed manual transmission and 195k miles with a gasoline V8. I went and bought it today for $6500.00

The wife and kids seem to approve. My wife is just sick and tired of me looking at and talking about trucks though.

How's she runnin? Haven't driven the 5.4L with a six speed. Start lookin' on Ebay for the towing mirrors. Real easy to swap out, and work much better.

Good looking truck and seems to be very clean. My opinion is that there is a lot of difference with a gas engine with 200000 miles and getting a diesel with 200000 miles on it. How much blowby does the 5.4 have?

Nice looking truck, enjoy. I have a 2003 F250 with a V10. It has 157,000 miles on it. I love the truck, doesn't pull like a diesel, but it fits my needs. I can't afford a new F 250 with their new diesel in it. I'm going to try to get 300K miles out of my V10, wish me luck. Ive heard the V10 is a great motor.

I get about 12-14 MPG. I live in Chattanooga, somewhat hilly, but I would doubt you could get better MPG going downhill.

I dont' have a V10 but I drove 300 miles and put at least 24 gallons. I think this is close to 13 miles per gallon. On this next tank I am trying to drive better. Use the overdrive and not rev too high. My truck has a 5.4L V8 and six speed(like a 5 speed) manual transmission. I know I need to get her serviced soon. A tune up? That 13 mpg was a mix of in town driving and my commute to work which is about 25 minutes and almost 100 percent interstate highway. My house and work are both half a mile from the highway or less.

I think this engine is a little underpowered even though I am not hauling or towing anything with it yet. I can live with it though. It's just a cruising around truck for now. The family fits comfortably in it.

I may try to fix up my wife's 240d and drive it part of the time. That little diesel should get pretty good mpgs. All other projects are on hold for the moment. Trying to focus. :hmm:

I filled the truck up yesterday morning. $80.00! and have driven 200 miles since then. That's $53 dollars of driving in 24 hours! This could start adding up. She is fun to drive though. :D

13 sounds about right. We had a 5.4 Expedition. It got 12 around town, 12 in the winter, 12 in the summer and a whopping 14 with cruise control on 55 MPH summer day, no AC.

Just think though, Might get bad mileage, but you don't have to spend thousands fixing it like a 6.0 PSD.

I got to 250 or 260 miles and the guage still says I have 1/4 tank left. I think I have improved my mpg somewhat. I am shifting a little lower rpms and using fifth gear more. I have been accelerating slower but not too bad. I don't get upset when someone goes around my slow a$$. Ah, but I still kept the air conditioner on full blast. :hmm:

I think I am not ready for the expense and maintenance cost of a diesel.
