Anyone heard from Forrest Bump??

Post by Calfdemon »

Just wondering if anyone has heard from Larry lately? I spoke with him about a month and a half ago and I know he was being forced to move from his house and was looking to move into a place nearby, but then have not heard from him since. I see that he hasn't logged in since April which is also very strange for a guy that was on this site at least 10 times a day religiously.

I tried calling him on his phone (which was also his business line) and it just rings and rings with no answer or answering machine. This is also strange as he ran his own business and it would always go to the machine if he did not answer. I will continue to try and call him and maybe he (or someone) will answer one of these times, but in the meantime, i was just wondering if anyone else has heard from him since my last conversation with him.

I would drive up to see how he is doing, but I only know where he USED to live and that wont do me any good in the middle of the desert.

Good afternoon Rich,

I heard from Larry a while back that he was moving and would be offline for a while. My guess is that he's still reorganizing his life, and that he'll be back in a few weeks.

I talked to him in April and he said he'd be out of touch for awhile. No phone, no computer, no mailbox, no nothing. However, he was optimistic about his situation and expected to be back on his feet and back on the forums in 4-5 months. Helluva guy! Given what was going on in his life, he still had a positive outlook and kept his humor about the situation. We're all praying and pulling for you Larry! Come back to us soon!

You dont have to tell me what a hell of a guy Larry is... When CNM67's engine was on its last leg and we were in over our heads on some work that needed to be done, Larry offered to let us tow the truck up to his house where it sat in the driveway for 3 weeks while we went up on the weekends and worked on it. Between the vast number of tools he has (tools I never even knew existed) and his know-how on how to do some pretty tough stuff, we were able to get his truck back in shape and on top of that, added power steering, power brakes, and quite a few other upgrades during that time that we had planned on doing, but just not quite yet.

Anyway, Larry was overly hospitible and bent over backwards to teach us young bucks (ok, I am younger than Larry, but not by a lot) how to do a few things we had not done on these trucks before. He didn't ask for a thing in return for his help and we had to force him to take a little something. Couldn't find a nicer guy...

Just to bring this post up to date... ForrestBump is back on the grid!!

I got a phone call from Larry earlier today with his new phone number and a brief update. I was unable to answer due to work, but he left me a message saying he has a new place, new number, and is back on his feet. I will give him a call later this afternoon and catch up with him and hopefully we will all see him back on the site soon!!

Yay! Glad to hear he's back in the black. He had told me of his situation last spring and I've been wondering if he'd gotten things together again. I left him a PM last May and I keep watching my Outbox to see if he's opened it but it's still sitting there. Hope he gets back on here soon. He's really been missed by a lot of us.

I spoke to Larry a short time ago and first off, he wanted me to pass on a big HELLO to everyone and says he has really missed everyone here. Just to catch everyone up, he had to close his business and lost his house and ended up being somewhat homeless for about 7 months. He had some friends that let him live on their property in a camper until he could get back on his feet. He was able to hang on to both of his bumps and all of his tools and parts, and has even acquired another bump and an Econoline van since that time. He landed a great job as a property caretaker which pays him with a free place to live with his daughter. He now has a phone line and is trying to get everything back in order.

He told me he is going to hold off on getting internet right now until he can make sure he is completely stable and can afford it, but is hording lots of parts and has access to a lot more. So once he gets internet, he should be a good source for bumpside parts once again.

I will be talking to him again soon and will probalby touch base with him every couple of weeks. Caleb and I might even drive out there and visit him one day here in the near future so if any of you have anything you want me to pass on other than the standard hello, let me know and I can get the message to him.

I had a great Sunday morning. 4-7-13 Went to a wrecking yard pulled a few parts then went over to ForrestBumps house. AKA Larry.
Was a good morning spent a couple of hours there, It was good to see him. He says to say hi to all especially the ones who have posted with concerns on his well being. Larry is doing great, he's got a lot to keep him busy. For now I'll let you all know he's doing real good.
