Heater Control Valve Install
Getting ready to install the heater control valve that I just received ... when I got the truck there was NO control valve. So, the heat is on all the time, which is not so great in June ... this just became a priority.
Since I'm not replacing a valve it's not intuitive (to me) which line this goes on. I checked the schematics & I'm not seeing it there either. Checked my shop manual which talks about switching out the valve, but doesn't specify where. There's 2 hoses going through the firewall ... I'm thinking the valve goes on the line that is comes from the thermostat - is that right? Thanks, as always, for the good help I get here.

Re: Heater Control Valve Install
I always refer to the "358 original miles" truck for some of these OEM install tips. Here's a pretty shot of what you're looking for. http://www.fordification.com/images/70explpics/17.jpg

Re: Heater Control Valve Install
I hate to tell you this but from what I understand these trucks could have had one of two heater valves and they are directional. You need to know which one you need. Here's both from oreillys http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/searc ... vi=1122589 . You have to look at the line clamp location and determine if you want the direction of flow to be away from the clamp or toward the clamp.

Re: Heater Control Valve Install
My valve is extremely sensitive, on or off, with one little spot on the controls where it is moderately warm, maybe I have the wrong direction valve? I'll have to check it out.

Now's where's that thread that talks about the difference between the two heater valves...

Honestly I don't know for sure. All I know is when I try to look up the heater valve for my 69 everyone shows both.basketcase0302 wrote:Joe, wasn't that just the 67' year model?fomocoguy on Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:57 am

Re: Heater Control Valve Install
Sure wish the search engine was working and I'd try to find that thread. It had some good info on the difference between the two valve and what years each were in.
