why?
Guys I love our fords and have since I was 15. 17 years later I still have the passion for our trucks and love meeting people who love cars and trucks also. I went to the MO event that Fred had and had a pretty good time and got me a few nice items for my crewcab that I will be working on this summer. There are all kinds of people of different tastes that love cars and trucks and I love meeting them all. On Facebook there is so many people that just like to argue and get in pissing fights over fords or chevys and so on. I usually don't get involved with this or political things because it starts fights and turns friends on friends. People will never agree on every thing and they should not as it would make for a very boring world would it not?? I think one thing most of us should think about is, whether its a ford, chevy or dodge it has a place for someone and I would like to see all the old ones restored or drove rather than crushed. Imagine in 20 years when our kids say. man look at the focus and think its cool! I will quit babbling now and leave with this, I love old cars and trucks and love to meet others that love them too no matter what they are!

Amen, I like cool things that work well, doesn't really matter what badge it wears.
Some folks enjoy arguing, I try to avoid those folks.

Here too! Oh, don't get me wrong, I like to kid around with the guys who build Chevy's but I still appreciate vintage iron no matter what the maker.

The Ford-Chevy-Dodge wars keeps things interesting... Thing is nowadays you have Toyota and Honda and Nissan and the like entering the mix as well. I'm too old for that sh!t...!!
Pulls wouldn't be any fun if they were all Fords or John Deere's...! Gotta have some friendly competition...! Just gotta know how to both win and lose graciously.

Re: why?
The comments section on any YouTube video is where the world's dumbest people make their voices heard. I love country music, but nearly every country music video on YouTube has comments that have degraded to the Ford vs. Chevy debate (never mind that the overall theme of the song is about something much more important in life than pickup trucks). Get over it, people! The differences between a Ford and a Chevy are, on the whole, really insignificant. Completely not worth the millions of hours people have spent debating it.
My list of dream cars has Ford, GM, and Chrysler vehicles on it, as well as a couple of the more interesting and unique imports.

On that note, here's a quick video on a guy who has the guts to drive a truly amazing and rare car: a '54-'57 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. I've seen one of these in a museum, but never on the road. And this guy does with it exactly what it was built for. http://vimeo.com/42913762

Re: why?
There's a difference between good natured ribbing and people who actually take these arguments seriously. My dad was a die hard Ford man..his best friend a chevy man.
I'll occasionally get a snarky comment from a chevy guy...the usual "found on road dead" stuff. I usually it slide...or just reply.."some folk like burnouts...some folk need bailouts..."

Re: why?
My theory is that chevy guys envy fords success. If you look at most ford vs chevy argument 99 time out of 100 it the chevy guy that starts it. One of my best friend is a chevy guy and so is his whole family. they always talk crap about ford to me. at first i went with it, but after a while i got tired of arguing.
even today we will be sitting at lunch talking about his brothers 350 s10 (broke as usual
) and hell talk about how awesome the ls motors are and how they can make alot of power and still not blow on the stock block, then say "bet none of your ford motors can do that."
i just learned to stay quite. I know what Fords can do, why waste my time on someone who doesnt want to believe?

Re: why?
Ford or Chevy, or any make for that matter, we argue and we are just doing the manufacturers advertising for them. The real questions to ask are: is it right for the job, made well, comfortable and good looking. Not all old cars are cool, but many of them are pieces of art. You like your ride, and some else likes something different, good for both parties.
But, new vehicles are all starting to look the same because they are designed by a computer in a wind tunnel. Only so much you can do to get the drag down as low as possible without losing individuality.

Re: why?
Classic steel is classic steel. I grew up in a Chevy house, and had a 59 Apache when I was 18. For me, when I got the chance to get my bump, it was something different than the usual fare of vintage GM products I was raised on. Something different. I probably wouldn't have bought it if it was a Chevy. Come to think of it, even if it was a Dodge of the same era. Eh, guess something clicked about the bump.
Having said that, like many my dream list has vehicles of many makers. And a Tucker.... mmmmm..... impossibly expensive likely will never own one automobiles......

Re: why?
Everytime I heard another Chevy truck commercial say "the longest lasting pickup out there", I think yeah they are because NO ONE DRIVES THEM LIKE A FORD. Fords are tough and are used, therefore they might rust out faster or need a rebuild sooner. A used truck is a loved truck. A truck that doesn't get driven and is neglected is so for a reason.
I'm definitely a Ford guy even though I grew up in a GM household. Old Chevys are interesting to me too. I don't go around starting Ford vs. Chevy fights like some people do. People take notice of my 360 V8 when I show it cause its not another boring 350 small block.
