Really like the truck great job on the project i can use alot of what you did on my 1970f100 as far as rust and even this diesel swap in im really wanting to do that to my truck eventually when i get some more money to buy a donar truck. being in highschool makes it not so easy to have much extra money around. so keep us posted on the cummins swap in as i may be doing the same thing. thanks!!!

I've been slacking on the updates lately...

Ever since I got the truck on the road Ive been working the hell out of it, been using it to haul and run errands. Towed a 10-12k trailer with it and it handled it just fine! Just lacked power but that will be taken care of soon.

About a month ago I started looking around for a tow hitch but all I could find were universal crap recievers that didnt have the load capacity I was looking for.

So I opted to build my own out of some scrap metal I had sitting around. I wanted to have atleast 10k hauling capacity so everything except for some of the gussets are 1/4". Since most recievers mount on the bottom of the frame rail, they tend to bend up the rear frame horns so I designed mine to mount on the side and bottom for extra capacity and piece of mind.

pulled bumper

Since I wanted a side and bottom type mounting I had to space the bumper brackets, so I cut them off and offset them which gave me the 1/4" I needed.

Bolted the bumper back on and made a template

Busted out the torch and started burning into the 1/4"

Holy crap that is some incredible work you have done!

I am thinking of doing the same thing as you, the cummins swap with my crew. So I will be following this one closely
