For all my fellow Batman fans

Post by CNM67 »

A little FE/ Batman history, I didnt watch too much of the old Adam west but thought this was cool when I read it.
(FE's powered the original Batmobiles built by George Barris for the 1966 TV series. It fit under the hood along with the Bat-ray, Bat-ram, a nose-mounted aluminum chain slicer and all the associated support hardware, and still provided power needed to drive the 5,500 pound vehicle. One version of the Batmobile built by Barris, which was equipped with a Holman-Moody prepped 427 FE with dual quads, toured dragstrips where it would be launched in second gear and spin its tires the entire quarter-mile length of the track.)
The iron never lies and 200 pounds is always 200 pounds

Thanks for finding that video.. Watching that one led me to watching this one:

And while that 66 is not FE powered, it has the host washing it in a bikini at the end which made it even more worthwhile!! Of course, if you want to cheat, you can just watch this one:

From Wiki:
Barris went on to build three fiberglass replicas using the frames and running gear from 1966 Ford Galaxie cars for the show circuit, three of which were covered with a felt-like flocking finish in the 1970s.
That's the Batmobile I remember seeing way...back at a world of wheels show here in the early 70's.
I have vivid memories of the felt like finish, as they allowed you to touch it.
Batman wouldn't drive no chebby!
